Yau-Man Chan is a contestant from 14 and 16.
One of the series most popular contestants, Chan is regarded as one of the modern pioneers of Survivor by utilizing his skills in physics to complete tasks that stronger contestants would not be able to accomplish. He is known for being betrayed by Dreamz Herd, becoming a part of the Survivor Car Curse.

  +
  +
Yau-Man surprised many of his fellow castaways in Fiji by utilizing his skills in physics to complete tasks that more physically-adept contestants would not be able to accomplish. Despite being placed on the ill-fated Ravu tribe, Yau-Man formed a strong partnership with Earl Cole, with the two aiding each other in finding Hidden Immunity Idols. Following the merge, Yau-Man and Earl led the Syndicate Alliance that took control in the latter stages of the game. At the final six, Yau-Man made a deal with Dreamz Herd that, if Dreamz won the final four Immunity Challenge, he would give it to Yau-Man in exchange for the car that Yau-Man won at the Reward Challenge. He also became the first contestant in Survivor history to correctly play a Hidden Immunity Idol. Yau-Man's likability and perceived jury threat status led to Dreamz reneging on their deal, leading Yau-Man to be voted out a day short of the Final Tribal Council.
  +
  +
Yau-Man's popularity led him to become an early target in Micronesia. When the Malakal tribe was divided into two alliances competing for Cirie Fields's vote, Yau-Man's reputation and threat status after finding and successfully using an Immunity Idol came back to haunt him, as Cirie chose to side with the opposing Malakal Couples Alliance in targeting Yau-Man, sending him home at the third Tribal Council.

It was this popularity that led him to become an early target in Micronesia. After finding himself in the minority, Chan became the third person voted from the season.

Before the tribes were chosen Yau-Man impressed everybody with his physical strength and his intelligence After the tribes were picked on Day 2, Yau-Man was placed on on the Ravu, Have Nots tribe. Ravu lost almost every challenge they competed in. Although initially worried that his tribe members would see him as weak, Yau joined Earl Cole in making the Syndicate Alliance. This kept him safe from Tribal Council. At the Tribe Switch Yau-Man was swapped to the Moto tribe. He enjoyed the many luxuries the tribe had in comparison to Ravu. Moto won the all the remaining challenges except one Reward Challenge, bringing Yau safely to the merge. He also managed to find the Hidden Immunity Idol after visiting Exile Island.

Like everybody in 14, Yau-Man was surprised to find that the castaways started the game without tribes. Before the tribes were chosen, Yau-Man impressed everybody with his physical strength and his intelligence, using his physics knowledge to break a crate that the physically stronger castaways could not open. After the tribes were divided on Day 2, Yau-Man was placed on Ravu, which would later become the Have Nots tribe after they lost the initial Immunity Challenge, which relegated their tribe to a desolate beach. Ravu lost almost every subsequent challenge they competed in. Although initially worried that his tribe members would see him as weak, Yau-Man joined Earl Cole in making the Syndicate Alliance. This kept him safe from elimination at Tribal Council. At the tribe switch, Yau-Man was swapped to the Moto tribe with close allies Earl and Michelle Yi. He enjoyed the many luxuries the tribe had in comparison to Ravu. Moto won all the remaining challenges except one Reward Challenge, bringing Yau-Man safely to the merge. He also managed to find the Hidden Immunity Idol at Moto's camp after visiting Exile Island.

At the merge he rejoined with his alliance and picked off the remaining loyal Four Horsemen members. During this time he managed to win immunity twice. Yau-Man won a 2008 Ford Super Duty truck at a Reward Challenge. He made a deal with Dreamz Herd as he knew Dreamz didn't have a car of his own. The deal was that if he gives Dreamz the car Dreamz had to give Yau-Man the Immunity Necklace at the Final Four should he win it. Dreamz happily agreed to the deal, thanking Yau-Man. Yau also sent himself to Exile Island. After finding the clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol, Yau shared it with Earl, and together they found a the Idol, which Earl kept. Although Dreamz accepted Yau-Man's deal, he didn't want to commit and noted that the deal only applied at the final four. Using this, Stacy Kimball convinced Boo Bernis and Cassandra Franklin to vote out Yau-Man before the Final Four. Yau-Man discovered their plan and played his Hidden Immunity Idol at Tribal Council, sending Stacy home instead.

Yau managed to win the next Immunity Challenge, keeping him safe to the Final Four. At the Final Immunity Challenge it comes down to Yau-Man and Dreamz, with the latter winning. At Tribal Council Dreamz betrayed Yau-Man and kept the Immunity Necklace for himself, saying that if he gave up immunity he would be voted out instead. This lead to Yau-Man being voted out on Day 38, as he was the biggest threat going into the Final Tribal Council.

At the Final Tribal Council, Yau-Man shows no ill-will toward Dreamz for the betrayal. He simply asked why Earl voted him out. Earl said it was because he knew that Yau-Man would win if he had reached the end. Satisfied, Yau-Man voted for his ally Earl to win.

Yau-Man returned as one of ten returning contestants who competed against ten Survivor "Superfans" who gave him the most tremendous response of his return. At the first individual Immunity Challenge, where the castaways were to locate an individual Immunity Idol (one per tribe) that would only be effective the first time they go to Tribal Council. Villain Jon Dalton found one of the two idols, but mistakenly picked the Fans' Immunity Idol. Yau-Man caught him and told Kathy Sleckman where the idol for her tribe was, and then he rushed to their boat getting the idol from his tribe and accidentally slammed Dalton at the hull of the boat, to the latter's chagrin.

At the first individual Immunity Challenge, where the castaways were to locate an individual Immunity Idol (one per tribe) that would only be effective the first time they go to Tribal Council, Jon Dalton found one of the two idols, but mistakenly picked the Fans' Immunity Idol. Yau-Man caught him and told Kathy Sleckman where the idol for her tribe was, and then he rushed to their boat getting the idol from his tribe and accidentally slammed Jon at the hull of the boat, to the latter's chagrin.

Yau-Man formed an alliance with Eliza Orlins, Jonathan Penner, and Ami Cusack to try to vote out the Malakal Couples Alliance made by Amanda Kimmel, Ozzy Lusth, James Clement, and Parvati Shallow. While both voting blocs were vying for Jon and Cirie Fields' votes, all plans were put on hold when Jon suddenly decided that he wanted to go home to be with his expectant girlfriend and honouring Jon's wishes, he was unanimously voted out 9-1.

On Day 5, Malakal won the combined Reward/Immunity Challenge by a wide margin, sparing Yau-Man from elimination once more, however Malakal lost the third Immunity Challenge. Both alliances again battled for Cirie's crucial swing vote, but Cirie eventually joined Parvati's alliance on the condition that Yau-Man would be the first eliminated despite the alliance's desire to eliminate Eliza (for her weakness challenge performances). Cirie argued that if Yau-Man went to Exile Island at least once, he would definitely find the Hidden Immunity Idol. Parvati's alliance eventually agreed, sending Yau-Man home in a 6-2-1 vote.

Yau-Man Chan is a contestant from Survivor: Fiji and Survivor: Micronesia.

Survivor

Fiji

Like everybody in Fiji, Yau-Man was surprised to find that the castaways started the game without tribes.

At the merge, Yau-Man rejoined with his alliance and picked off the remaining loyal Four Horsemen members. Yau-Man won a 2008 Ford Super Duty truck at the Day 34 Reward Challenge, though he made a deal with Dreamz Herd as he knew that Dreamz did not have a car of his own. The deal was that if he gave Dreamz the car, Dreamz would had to give Yau-Man the Immunity Necklace at the final four should he win it. Dreamz happily agreed to the deal, thanking Yau-Man. Yau-Man also sent himself to Exile Island. After finding the clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol, he shared it with Earl, and together they found another idol, which Earl kept. Although Dreamz accepted Yau-Man's deal, he did not want to commit and noted that the deal only applied at the final four.

At the Final Immunity Challenge, it came down to Yau-Man and Dreamz, with the latter winning. At Tribal Council, Dreamz betrayed Yau-Man and kept the Immunity Necklace for himself, saying that if he gave up immunity, he would be voted out instead. This led to Yau-Man being voted out on Day 38, as he was the biggest threat going into the Final Tribal Council.

At the Final Tribal Council, Yau-Man showed no ill-will toward Dreamz for the betrayal. He simply asked why Earl voted him out. Earl said it was because he knew that Yau-Man would win if he had reached the end. Satisfied, Yau-Man voted for his ally Earl to win the title of Sole Survivor.
