Su vida no ha sido fácil y La Isla es sólo una prueba más en su vida que está dispuesta a superar. Yanilen tuvo que dejar a su familia en Cuba para lograr y construir su mayor sueño, ser una gran cantante. Para ello, tuvo que sacrificar y trabajar día a día para conseguir su propósito. Yanilen estudió cuatro años para profesora de arte, aunque nunca dejó de lado sus dos grandes pasiones: el canto y el baile. Yanilen desde niña siempre quiso ser bailarina y prueba de ello, fue su gran e innato talento en La Academia, donde dejaba sudor, lágrimas y fuerza en cada concierto. Le encanta la música de Jennifer López, Madonna y Thalía y para ella, entrar a La Academia, fue un gran regalo para su vida.

La Isla: El Reality

Yanilen Diaz started in the Famous tribe, which is considered the weakest of the season, having lost three participants in a row, and having been left with only the women. When this happens, on Day 16 a note arrives saying that each tribe had to choose a competitor, it is not made clear for what, but soon it would be known that it referred to the Captains' Challenge, where Yanilen is named captain of her tribe, in that challenge, the captain who lost, would suffer consequences for him and his tribe. Unfortunately, Yanilen loses the challenge and her tribe is dissolved.

When the tribe disappears, its members are absorbed by the other two tribes. Yanilen is chosen by the Luna tribe, after being considered the strongest of her former tribe. In the first Immunity Challenge with her new tribe, they lose, and although Yanilen was the main target, she could not be eliminated because she had an Immunity Bracelet due to the change of tribe. In the next trial of her new tribe, she wins the Final Challenge, giving her the Individual Immunity that she so desperately needed. In the last week before the merge, her tribe loses and this time she fails to win immunity, so she herself considers that she would be eliminated, but a plan arises from the women of her tribe to vote for Hilario Gerez, so she could make it to the merge.

When the merger arrives, Yanilen suffers some injuries in her feet, so she asks to be voted out, being the 7th place and the last one to be voted out through a trial in that season.
