YOLO, Let's Play! is the second episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols.

Story

Night 3

S39 vince t
Vince
We got back from tribal. My ass was like, "Maybe I should be nice and like, Oh, it's okay; it's just a game." But I was like, "(expletive),

no!" Like, that's not who I am!

S39 missy t
Missy
Aaron was pretty mad, understandably so. Nobody spoke to him about the vote, but for me that was perfect. With a guy gone, the girls' alliance is in control, but I know for a fact me and him can still work together, so he needs to stop crying. This is Survivor. If people didn't want to work with you, you would be gone.
S39 aaron t
Aaron
Everybody's saying the right things, but I don't trust anybody... at all. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, that's not going to happen, and unfortunately for them, their day will come.

Day 4

S39 molly t
Molly
As each day goes by, it gets harder to be around Noura. [...] She's-- annoying. Coming at someone at six in the morning when they've just woken up just isn't smart. [...] We all feel that it's wearing to be with someone for twenty-four hours a day who can be a grating personality because in Survivor you need to bite your tongue, and Noura doesn't.
S39 noura t
Noura
Molly is not that strong and not that helpful around camp. She's like this, and she's put together, knows how to talk and charm. It's like, "Woah, that's how she's gaining everyone over." That's dangerous! This is why I'm going crazy right now!
S39 jason t
Jason
Noura and I are clearly on the outs, and Noura getting into trouble is a good thing for my game, but I'm in this weird complex with Noura right now because-- she's my friend. I got into trouble early. People kind of kicked me to the side. The only person that really came to my aid was Noura. I feel I owe her something; I really do.
S39 noura t
Noura
This sucks! The three like at the top--the king, the queen and the jack, the popular group--they're the popular group that everyone's like, "We're not worthy! We're not worthy! We want to fit in with you!"-- and me and Jason are the underdogs, the misfits, the nerds. It's like high school all over again.

Night 4

S39 aaron t
Aaron
Making fire has been something we've been talking about since Day 1, since hour 1 of building the camp, but it's not easy, and it just didn't happen. First tribal council, it didn't go the way I wanted it to go, and now this, and I'm beyond frustrated. [...] If I were a gambling person right now, I would bet that tonight once again we're going to get wet, be cold, and it sucks!
S39 tom t
Tom
Chelsea within like two minutes, she got the fire going, and it shocked us! It shocked me for sure. [...] Aaron and I, we were both really happy she started a fire, but it was also like, "Great job getting that fire going. You just ruined my male ego for the rest of my life!"
S39 chelsea t
Chelsea
I'm the one that started the fire, great feeling, especially as a superfan! I'm so happy I did! I'm so proud of myself! I'm in a good position right now. I have my five girls; we have the numbers. And the guys in this tribe, they're cool, but the girls are the ones dominating. We can do anything they can do; in fact, we're doing it better.
S39 chelsea t
Chelsea
My heart was just thumping! Like, I've dreamed of this moment, and I can't believe it happened. I was pumped! [...] I didn't go into collecting firewood expecting to find an idol, but any smart Survivor player, you're going to gather things, and you're looking for an idol. [....]There were so many people around! I was so scared! I just had to keep my composure. Fortunately, these guys don't know what's going on, they don't know there's a girl alliance, they don't know how to make fire, and clearly they don't know how to find a hidden immunity idol. I don't know what's going on in their heads, but the game has started, and they're behind!

Day 5

S39 jack t
Jack
Yoga was interesting. It started off a little abrupt. We do like the up-down things fifty times. [...] It was really exhausting, especially with the amount of food we had, [...] but Noura, she sounded exactly like all yoga classes. [...] I love it! This is a unique experience, [...] and I'm realizing that I don't want to be sitting behind a desk or wearing a suit. I want to have a freaking adventure and have a really good time, so yeah, I feel really good here.
S39 kellee t
Kellee
I'm literally just numb! My body has gone into shock, and it said I had to get on the boat and, like, go off to the Island of the Idols. I was kind of freaking out because I don't know what it is. [...] So I'm leaving the beach, leaving my tribe, and those two statements I kept repeating over and over and over again: assume nothing and think outside the box.
S39 kellee t
Kellee
I'm approaching the island, and I'm extremely nervous. I started thinking about all the different things that Island of the Idols could be. It could be a few urns that I have to smash; it could be there are a bunch of idols and clues on the island; maybe Cochran is going to pop out of the bushes. Like, this is crazy.
S39 kellee t
Kellee
Out pop Boston Rob and Sandra! [...] It was very surreal. In my mind you guys are legends; you're celebrities. So I was like, "Alright, should I freak out? Like, should I play it cool?"

Rob proceeds to read the Oath of the Idols. The line that says "offer you a chance to test what you learned" stands out to Kellee.

S39 kellee t
Kellee
So they read it out loud, and there's a line that catches my eye. [...] I've been to Harvard, I've been to Warton; but the reason I'm good at tests is because I've practiced for them, but going into a test totally blind like that is really scary.
S39 kellee t
Kellee
Okay, what is going on? What is happening? What is the point of this? [...] Rob's here, Sandra's here jabbering, jabbering, jabbering. [...] There's so many overwhelming things happening, so it's really hard for me to concentrate on the conversation.
S39 rob t
Rob
Look. Everything that happens on the Island of the Idols is a test, everything. [...] In the game of Survivor, you always have to be paying attention. It's a critical skill.
S39 sandra t
Sandra
With Kellee, I think she was more trying to get her bearings about what Island of the Idols was when she should be focusing on what we're telling her because she didn't know it was going to be her lesson.
S39 kellee t
Kellee
The question is, "Have you been listening to us?"--and I'm like, "Not really! Hahah. Like, no, I've been freaking out in my head this entire time, and I have a terrible memory!"
S39 kellee t
Kellee
This is like the biggest moment I've had yet in this game, so I'm just like calculating everything. I could have an idol, and that would be really, really useful especially for three tribals; or like losing my vote, it's a huge risk!
S39 kellee t
Kellee
Um, I just like want to cry, and I know that's like really not a normal reaction when you get an idol! I just like put like so much stress and pressure on myself, and I was just, I think like the fear of failure... I also have trouble celebrating, and I need to celebrate the fact that I just got an idol, which is crazy.
S39 rob t
Rob
Kellee went to Harvard, so she's smart. She was pretty analytical from the second she walked into Island of the Idols. She definitely possesses skills that are needed in this game to win, and her tribemates will be making a mistake by underestimating her.
S39 kellee t
Kellee
I'm walking back into camp. I am just terrified. I know that everyone is going to want to know what happened, do I have an idol, what was it like. [...] So on an impulse, I burst into tears and started crying. I want to throw the suspicion off my back.

Kellee proceeds to histrionically fabricate a false story to evade suspicion.

S39 kellee t
Kellee
The problem is I have this idol, and then I have the rules. Where am I supposed to hide this stuff? Like, seriously, where am I supposed to hide this? [...] Look at my clothes, look through my bag, like pat me down. Like, please pat me down. [...] and I'm like crying because I'm just like, "Please believe me." [...] Little do they know, I have the idol in my hair. Like at least three or four people literally would like hug me and hit my hair less than a centimeter away from that idol, but now I have an idol that no one knows about! So it's great.

Day 6

S39 tommy t
Tommy
It's our first taste of loss, and everybody's on board to vote out Noura or Jason. I do feel bad for them. Coming into this game, I knew it was going to be really hard for me to take teacher Tommy, put that aside and become Survivor Tommy, but you can't put out your neck out for somebody. It's every man for himself.
S39 jamal t
Jamal
This vote is pretty straightforward. Jason and Noura are on the outs. I think it is best to split the vote to avoid anything crazy. Should someone have an idol, there is some concern that Jason did some searching earlier in the game, so he's more dangerous to keep around. [...] I have a tight alliance going on with Molly and Jack where we're trying to be this unsuspecting alliance who kind of move the vote underneath the radar. [...] I think we're really impressed with ourselves and surprised that we're, we're handling this so well.
S39 molly t
Molly
I want to vote Noura out immediately. [...] Jack and Jamal have concerns about Jason. I don't. [...] I do think Noura's the easy vote, but I think it's also the smart vote because Noura has proven to be erratic. Now we're going to make an easy vote, we're going to have a nice afternoon, and life will go on. Let's not mess it up.
S39 lauren t
Lauren
Hey, Molly! I'm watching you like a frickin' hawk, and I know your game, and I'm not going to sit there and let your game play me. I'm going to play you! (claps) The biggest threat right now is Molly, and a blind man can see these three are running the game. Why get out the people like Noura and Jason when I can use them and I don't have to be a sheep and be herded and be told what to do?

S39 jason t
Jason
This is like fine music to my ears! [*onomatopoeically imitates a guitar sound] I was like, "Are you kidding me?!"
S39 jason t
Jason
I sense the trade winds have blown, and that's to take out Molly. Now, am I 100% certain of that? Hell no! It sounds too good to be true.
S39 tommy t
Tommy
If this happens, I'm losing two of my closest allies in Jamal and Jack. I am so torn, so torn because they feel like Molly has too much power in the game.
S39 tommy t
Tommy
So we have a really tough decision. Do you go with the easy vote, [...] or do we really want to shuffle the deck and make a move on your first tribal council? We have the cool kids, there's the nerds. As my parents would always say, "Hang out with the right crew." This crew over here is the cool lunch table, and I want to be there because I want to hang out with them. However, is the cool kids table what's best for us and my future? Which one is going to get me the Survivor million dollars?

Challenges

Reward/Immunity Challenge: Rung O Star
Six members of each tribe must swim to the ocean floor to release a ladder. They must then prop the ladder to allow one member to climb up and unhook a bag containing three balls. The last three members must then throw each ball on a board and land it on one of three targets. The first tribe to land a ball on all three targets wins.
Reward: A cooking kit and spices

(voting against Molly) Molly, sorry, it's time to put an end to your reign, my queen. It's time for the misfits and the nerds and the outsiders to finally feel like they belong.

Final Words

S39 molly bw
Molly
I'm stunned, hurt, and frankly dizzy from--from this blindside. I have seen so many blindsides on Survivor and you're always kind of like, "how they not know?" and I truly did not know. I'm not sure exactly where I went wrong or what happened or how this tide turned. I guess I got cocky and I've been humbled.
