When the tribes were formed and given a map to help find their camp, Xavier took the directional lead for the Tambor tribe. On their way, many tribe members took turns holding their compass, but many of them had trouble reading it. As a result, he and tribemate Jacky Moreau had a disagreement over the direction they were going. By the time the tribe lost the first Immunity Challenge, Xavier had integrated himself into the majority while Jacky had irritated them with his bossiness. Therefore, Jacky was eliminated that night.
On Day 5, before the first Reward Challenge of the season, Xavier slipped on a slope along a waterfall and fell face first. On site, the doctor called for Xavier to be evacuated due to head trauma. After a neurosurgeon declared that Xavier had suffered a cervical sprain, he was eliminated from the game, allowing for Jacky to return to the game in his place.
