The last remaining member of the No Collar Tribe, Will is best remembered for turning against the No Collar Alliance and flipping to the Escameca Alliance, as well as his heated and controversial altercation with castaway Shirin Oskooi. Despite several pro-social, team-oriented gestures and his successful partnership with Rodney Lavoie Jr., his inconsistent loyalties and occasional bellicosity made him something of a Final Tribal Council goat, as he earned a comparison to a "dead fish" from Shirin and lost a 6-1-1 vote to Mike Holloway.

Will started the game as a member of the free-spirited Nagarote tribe, dubbed the "No Collars". On the first day, Will was chosen to be Nagarote's representative to make a decision on behalf of his tribe and also chose Jenn Brown to assist him. Learning that their choice was between a big bag of beans or a Hidden Immunity Idol clue, Will and Jenn chose the bigger bag as it was too early to be deceitful in the game. When Nagarote first lost Immunity on Day 6, Will became the swing vote between the alliance of Joe Anglim, Hali Ford, and Jenn, as well as the alliance of Vince Sly and Nina Poersch. While he initially prepared to side with the latter, Nina revealed to him that Vince was concerned about his health, offending Will. This prompted Will to side with Joe's group at Tribal Council, voting out Vince and later Nina on Day 8. On Day 12, Tribe Switch occurred. Will remained on Nagarote. After the new Nagarote tribe lost immunity on Day 14, Will was targeted by Shirin Oskooi and Max Dawson for being a challenge liability. However, Max was blindsided for irritating the rest of the tribe instead.
On Day 17, the tribes merged into the Merica tribe. Upon merging, Will was immediately approached by Rodney Lavoie Jr., who offered him a place in the alliance of the original Escameca tribe. Will accepted the offer and also became a part of Rodney's inner alliance with Carolyn Rivera and Tyler Fredrickson. When Joe won immunity on Day 19, the Escameca alliance targeted Jenn. However, Will was not informed of the alliance's plan to vote against Jenn. Instead, Mike Holloway told Will to vote against Hali in order to prove his loyalty. Will voted for Hali at Tribal Council as instructed. However, Kelly was blindsided after Jenn played her idol, which negated the seven votes cast against her. Although he was not happy with being the sole voter against Hali, he had earned the trust of the Blue Collar alliance. Will then proceeded to help in voting out his former No Collar allies.
At the Survivor Auction on Day 25, Will was the first person to buy something and bought an item that banished him from the auction. Upon returning to camp however, Will discovered that he had won a cooler full of rations to last him throughout the remainder of the game. As a gesture of good will, he decided to share the rations with the rest of the tribe. He was later informed by Tyler that several tribe members (Mike, Jenn, and notably Shirin) believed that Will was being deceitful and had more food stashed away for himself. Enraged by her accusation, Will returned to camp and verbally attacked Shirin, showing her the empty cooler and then exclaiming that she had no family back home and that nobody was rooting for her to win or even cared about her. Though a couple people at camp were visibly stunned by what Will said to Shirin, they didn't come to her defense or comfort her. Finally, Mike came to Shirin's defense, telling her to come with him and get away from Will, but Will then started insulting Mike for also accusing him as well, but was not as harsh towards Mike. Despite this outburst, Will was not targeted for the remainder of the game due to his weakness in challenges and generally pleasant demeanor around camp, eventually making the Final Three with Mike and Carolyn.
During the Final Tribal Council, Rodney encouraged Will to explain his game to the rest of the jury as to why he made the decisions he did and deserved to win. In contrast, Shirin compared Will to a dead fish, claiming that his vile attitude would poison a person from the inside out if he was bitten into. Will ultimately became the Co-Runner-Up of the season (along with Carolyn), losing to Mike in a 6-1-1 vote, only receiving a vote from Rodney to win.
