La Noria Salvaje (English: The Wild Water Wheel) is a recurring challenge on Supervivientes. Since its introduction in Supervivientes 2018, it has become a staple of the show, and is one of the toughest, yet most popular, challenges on the show.
In 2024, it was given a slight makeover and renamed La Noria Infernal (loosely The Water Wheel of Hell), with the wheel much closer to the water than usual, forcing contestants' heads to go underwater on each revolution of the wheel. However, the change was poorly received, with some fans suggesting that the water made the wheel spin much slower, arguably making the challenge slightly easier. It was brought back for the All Stars series later that year, however the challenge made headlines after Bosco Martínez-Bordiú suffered a nasty back injury, falling off with his back crashing into the black safety beam, which swept him violently into the water.[1]
The challenge is usually played twice within a series, owing to its flexibility and popularity.
Rules[]
Tribes nominate one member to try to outlast the other with their arms and legs crossed holding onto a large spinning wheel. As the contestants hold on, the wheel will accelerate slightly with each revolution. The first tribe member to be thrown off the wheel loses the challenge.
This challenge is susceptible to ending in a tie, especially when contestants suffer injuries. However, since the show covered the bare wood with foam in 2021 this has been less likely to happen.
