When It Rains, It Really Pours (also known as When It Rains) is a recurring endurance challenge that originated in Survivor: Africa and was later used in later seasons.
Rules
One arm above their head with their wrist tethered to a bucket of water on top of a platform. The castaway who could stand there the longest without tipping the bucket would win. At random points during the challenge, the host would tempt the contestants with food items. They would get the food item only if they step down.
Starting from Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, a new layer was added to complicate the challenge. Players would stand on a narrow log. Now they will have to maintain their balance while raising their wrist.
History
In its debut during "Will There Be a Feast Tonight?" in Survivor: Africa, Teresa Cooper and Clarence Black were the last two standing and having no intention of quitting for food. They agreed a Rock, Paper, Scissors game would decide the winner, where Clarence lost the game and Teresa became the first winner of this challenge.
Shii Ann Huang won the challenge when it reappeared in Survivor: All-Stars.
Parvati Shallow won this challenge in Survivor: Micronesia and Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains where during in Micronesia, she was up against Jason Siska for six hours. Eventually, Jason gave in to Parvati to get food, and Parvati won the challenge. In Heroes vs. Villains, she battled against Rupert Boneham, who lost his balance.
Chelsea Meissner won this challenge most recently in Survivor: One World.
