A generally well-liked and charismatic member of the Coyopa Guys Alliance, Wes managed to avoid being targeted for the majority of his run up until his father, Keith Nale, accidentally tipped off the opposing alliance of their plans to vote out Jon Misch, causing both Jon and Keith to play their Hidden Immunity Idols and blindsiding Wes in a 2-0-0 vote.

What Does It Mean to You to Play Survivor with Your Loved One? Getting to play with my loved one is going to be awesome. I'm sure my dad will impress me with everything he does and how he will play his social game. It will be more fun playing the game of Survivor with him because I will have somebody on the island that I could 100% trust when things get tough or when big moves need to be made.[1]

Survivor

Wes completed with his father, Keith Nale, on Survivor: San Juan del Sur. The father-and-son tandem had a difficult time during Day Zero, having lost their "striker" and spent the night without fire. When it was time to separate the following day, Wes' buff was orange and he was placed on the Coyopa tribe. During the first few days of the game, Wes believed that he was on the same tribe as John Rocker because of watching baseball in his youth. John denied this, because of his controversial Sports Illustrated interview which had gotten him labelled racist and homophobic. At the first Immunity Challenge, Coyopa was initially leading, but lost after struggling with the puzzle. Wes agreed with Dale Wentworth that Nadiya Anderson was a huge threat because of her being on The Amazing Race. She was the first person voted out of the game in a 5-3-1 vote.

At the Immunity Challenge on Day 5, Wes faced of against Jeremy Collins and won, scoring a point for his tribe. However, Coyopa lost the challenge when Jaclyn Schultz lost her second match against Kelley Wentworth. The men of the tribe decide to split the vote between Val Collins, who claimed to have two Hidden Immunity Idols, and Baylor Wilson. The vote was tied 4-4 and Val was voted out in a 5-1 revote. At the next Hero Duel, Coyopa won the rock-paper-scissors to decide who would compete in the duel. Wes volunteered himself, believing he would win against his dad. Wes did win the duel for his tribe and picked fishing gear over comfort items. Wes also chose Josh Canfield to join his father on Exile Island. Although Wes was hoping Coyopa would win the Immunity Challenge because they were now eating fish, this was not the case and Coyopa lost again. Wes agreed with Josh that John should go after his outburst after losing the challenge. John was blindsided in a 5-2 vote. However, at the next Immunity Challenge, Coyopa was finally able to win.

On Day 10 at the, Hero Arena, there was a Tribe Switch where Wes ended up on the Hunahpu tribe, but his father ended up on the new Coyopa tribe. Unlike at Coyopa, Hunahpu had very little rice. Wes, like the other former Coyopa members were upset by this. While the Hunahpu won the Immunity Challenge, they plead with host Jeff Probst afterwards for more rice. The next day, Jeff came to their camp and gave them rice at the expense of nearly all of their rewards accumulated over the course of the game. At the next, Hero Duel, Reed Kelly won the tribe a Survivor barbecue. Unfortunately, heavy rains came after the food was eaten. At the next Immunity Challenge, Hunahpu came from behind to win immunity yet again.

On Day 16, the tribes would merge into the Huyopa tribe and the castaways were given a feast to celebrate. Wes was happy and considered the feast the highlight of the game. Keith immediately joined his son and the alliance consisting of his father, Keith, Josh, Reed, and Alec Christy. Wes lost the first post-merge Immunity Challenge to his father. However, Tribal Council was cancelled because of Julie McGee quitting the game. At the next Reward Challenge, Wes and Keith were on the winning team along with Jeremy, Reed, and Natalie Anderson, with the group winning a trip to a taco bar. However, the food caused Wes to be extra gassy, this alienated Baylor and Jaclyn back at camp. The initial target, Jeremy, won immunity so Josh turned the target toward Baylor for her being non-committal towards him. However, Josh was the one who ended up getting the boot, leading to Wes' alliance being down in numbers.

Wes would stay safe for the next few days as he was not the target. Jeremy would be voted out next due to a falling out with Jon Misch. On the Day 24 Reward Challenge, Wes ended up on the losing team and was exiled. At the Immunity Challenge, Wes would ultimately step down for some chicken wings and beer. Reed gathered his alliance to take advantage of a split vote and attempted to blindside Jon. Unfortunately, Jon was inadvertently tipped off at Tribal Council by Keith to "stick to the plan" and Natalie urging him to play his idol. Keith also played his idol after Wes declined the idol when Keith offered it to him. As Wes was the only one with votes that counted against him, Wes was the eliminated from the game.

At Final Tribal Council, Wes congratulated the finalists and told them how wonderful it was to play with his father. Wes then asked the women who it was to play with their loved ones. Missy Payne said that it was a dream come true and said that she adored Keith. Jaclyn said that her experience with Jon was a communication thing and was overall great. Natalie said she was never apart from Nadiya for very long and hoped to make her proud. Wes voted for Natalie to win the title of Sole Survivor.
