The Winds Twist is the fourth episode of Survivor: Marquesas.
Story[]
Night 9[]
Rob Mariano and Sean Rector work on the fire. In a confessional, Rob talks about how he is in controlling the game. Gina Crews, in a confessional, talks about how stupid it was to vote out Hunter Ellis. Gina asks why he was voted out. She does not like the answers and summarizes the reasons why the Maraamu Alliance voted out Hunter.
Day 10[]
At Rotu, John Carroll does Neleh Dennis' hair, tying it into a ponytail. In a confessional, Paschal English describes the tribe as a family. Tammy Leitner believes that Paschal is the reason why the tribe has a groove. In a confessional, Gabriel Cade states the reason why they are winning as because of Rotu's unity. Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien prepares coconut for the tribe. In a confessional, Tammy says the tribe respects one another and that is good.
At Maraamu, Gina and Rob go to get Tree Mail. They speculate the challenge could be. Vecepia Towery says in a confessional that all of the tribe's predictions for the past challenges have been wrong and decides to expect anything. When the tribes meet for what they think is a Reward Challenge, host Jeff Probst explains that this will not be a challenge, but a Tribe Switch. The castaways are asked to stand on a disk of their choosing. When everyone is on a disk, they are asked to flip over the disks one-by-one. Underneath each disk is a buff. Whoever uncovers a blue buff will be placed on Rotu and whoever uncovers a yellow buff will be placed on Maraamu. After the switch, the new tribes are as follows:

The new Maraamu heads to their camp. Gina and Sarah Jones show the newcomers their campsite. Gina remarks in a confessional about she is on a tribe of working people. Kathy describes Maraamu as a four-star hotel in comparison to Rotu. Neleh says that she would have chosen Maraamu for its fruit over Rotu. The tribe talks while eating fruit and Gina and Kathy bond. Sarah talks about this in a confessional and says that this is good. Sarah explains the Maraamu weather show and talks about Hunter. Paschal gives a confessional about the former Maraamu being lazy, but the fruit makes it worthwhile.
At Rotu, the new tribe arrives at their beach. Tammy gives a confessional about the tribe switch and is loving meeting new people. John offers the newcomers the "coconut popcorn" created earlier that day. Vecepia gives a confessional about how the original Rotu members' welcome was genuine, but they expected them to start working. She describes Maraamu as mostly chilling in the afternoon and likens Rotu to ants. Rob gives a confessional about the numerical disadvantage the original Maraamu members face on the new Rotu, describing (and insulting) his new tribemates and that the game is changing.
Rob |
“ | At this point, I'm really not sure how I'm going to overcome the numerical advantage that they hold. Having five members stay and us being the three newcomers. The biggest thing now is going to be to see how I'm going to be able to bond with these other people. Gabe seems pretty cool, he's definitely a brainiac. He probably thinks he's a lot smarter than he really is. When I first saw John, I thought he was a big-time queer. I really don't know, he seems kind of rough and tough over here, but he does all the cooking. So I don't know, I won't be sleeping next to him tonight, not the first night, anyway. The General [Robert] seems like a nice guy, also. He's big and tough, and wants everybody to know that. Probably got a little sausage. Tammy is engaged, there's not too much hope there. And Zoe is pretty nice, but... come on. (chuckles) Without a doubt, Zoe is definitely the toughest guy in this tribe. I don't think this is the type of group where I can jump in and joke around and just be all outlandish and stuff like I could in the other group. Definitely the game is changing, and maybe for the better. Maybe for the worse. I don't know. | ” |
At Maraamu, Kathy looks at the map to the water stream and has trouble pronouncing Maraamu. On the way to the water stream, Gina talks about Hunter as a person and how shocking his elimination was. The tribe talks at the water source. Kathy gives a confessional about how different Maraamu is from Rotu. Gina gives a confessional about if Rob, Sean, and Vecepia get picked off at Rotu, they would deserve it.
At Rotu, the new members collect firewood. Rob describes life at Rotu as terrible because of the tribe being workaholics. Sean and Robert DeCanio clean the fire. In a confessional, Sean believes that the tribe has too much labor. He and Rob talk about how Rotu is compared to Maraamu. Tammy gives the men food. She makes it clear in a confessional that they are being voted out if they do not work.
Day 11[]
Sarah sleeps in the Maraamu shelter while the others work on camp chores. Kathy leads the tribe on a hike. However, Paschal explains in a confessional that she got them lost. Kathy explains in a confessional that they were enjoying the scenery to a point but that they were annoyed with the hike. Gina describes that Neleh and Paschal were getting annoyed with Kathy because of the hike and different personalities. Eventually, the tribe finds a deep rock pool with shrimp. Sarah decides to go back to camp because of the bugs. However, she cannot find her way back.
At Rotu, Tammy gives Rob and Sean some food. Sean talks about the original Rotu members' bond, and that they and Vecepia would be voted out as soon as they lose immunity. Sean states to Gabriel about how he is not going to prove himself when he is going to get voted out. The three former Maraamu members talk about their situation. Vecepia states that she is with them, but is staying out of the drama.
Gina and Kathy get Tree Mail at Maraamu. Kathy gives a confessional about Rotu possibly throwing the challenge to vote out one of the newcomers.
The tribes arrive for the Immunity Challenge. John, Rob, and Sean agree to sit out for the challenge for Rotu. During the challenge, the new Maraamu gets confused, while Gabriel leads Rotu to their fourth consecutive immunity win.
Day 12[]
At Maraamu, Gina, Neleh, and Paschal gather fruit for the tribe. Kathy talks about how Rotu is winning so much. Gina gives a confessional about hating Tribal Council and is nervous about the numbers disadvantage, but believes that Sarah is going. But whether the latter knows this or she given up is unknown to the former. Sarah states she is not giving up, but does not know who is going because everyone has bonded. She says that her vote is for Kathy for smothering the tribe. Neleh describes Kathy's personality and how it affects the tribe.
At Tribal Council, Kathy, Neleh, and Paschal light their torches for the first time. Jeff asks about the tribe switch and how it affected them. When it is time to vote, Sarah is unanimously voted out.

Sarah |
“ | I'm getting kind of emotional right now, which I didn't think I would do. But I'm excited for the people that get to go back and finish the game and do what they have been doing very well. And I hope that my original seven other teammates, Rob, and Sean, and Vee, and... Gina, especially, do very, very, well, and, uh, I hope they're having a great time. | ” |
