Survivor Wiki

These are the rules for uploading images in the Survivor Wiki.

General

Allowed File Extensions

JPG and PNG files are allowed in the wiki. Uploading GIF files are highly discouraged due to their lack or purpose. If a GIF image is uploaded, do not use them on articles. They are only allowed on user pages.

Copyright

All images uploaded on Survivor Wiki support the fair use doctrine of the United States Fair use law. This means that they are used only for informational and educational purposes, and nothing else.

Usage

Stipulated they are copyrighted images, Survivor Wiki tries to use them sparingly. Only relevant images should be allowed in articles and their galleries. Uploading unnecessary images should be avoided.

Galleries

Each contestant should have a gallery depicting their stay in the game. Pictures that are irrelevant to Survivor, such as their post-show accomplishments or non-Survivor work, is discouraged. Contestant galleries should contain:

  • Several images that depict their stay in a season.
  • The gallery should culminate with a photo depicting the end of a contestant's stay in the game. If the contestant is voted out/eliminated at Tribal Council, their gallery must end with a photo depicting a contestant's torch getting snuffed by the host. If a contestant is eliminated by any other means, such as by medical evacuation or quitting the game, the final photo must still be related to his or her elimination.

References

  • The uploader of an image should cite where did he or she got the picture from. The user must edit the page and must describe the photo and its source.

Formats and Cropping

  • All non-free images must remain unaltered. The only exception to this rule is the "T" and "BW" contestant images, as these photos are only used to depict contestants still in the game and who are the contestants that are no longer in the running. Any further breaches are considered infringement.
  • It is permissible to combine multiple non-free images together into one file, as long as no individual image is altered and no additional text is added into the combined image.
  • Where press photos are available, editors are highly discouraged from uploading screenshots with low quality. If there is a need to use screenshots, they must be uploaded with the best quality possible.

Other Rules

  • Images containing uncensored nudity, as defined by United States law, are not allowed, even if they would otherwise be relevant to the wiki. Survivor Wiki is visited by people of all ages, so pornographic images do not belong here.
  • Images used in galleries should not be a screenshot with the TV network’s logo or watermark in the image. Exceptions may be made based on the season’s age and accessibility to logo- or watermark-free images, but those without logos and watermarks are more highly encouraged.
