This is the season premiere of Survivor South Africa: Malaysia.

Story

Day 1

While trekking through a Malaysian jungle, sixteen South Africans are ambushed by a local gang, who strip them of their possessions and lock them up in a chain. They are then transported by truck and brought onto a boat, where they meet host Mark Bayly, who informs them that they will have to unlock themselves and swim to shore. They will then compete in a challenge where the first person to drop out will not be placed on a tribe. The challenge involves balancing on perches, with some perches being harder to stand on than others. The difficulty of the perch will be determined by the order in which the contestant arrived on shore.

Nichal Ramchander was the first person to drop out. Mark informs him that he will be exiled to the nearby island of Gual to await a chance to join a tribe. Meanwhile, the fifteen remaining contestants are told to turn over their perches to learn their tribe colors: those who saw blue would join the Iban tribe, while those who saw yellow would join the Bajau tribe. Both tribes are named after Malaysian tribes known for their headhunting practices.

Challenges

Reward/Immunity Challenge: Water Obstacle Course
The tribes will swim out to a tower. One member will hook themselves onto the rope while their tribemates use a pulley system to lift them onto the tower. That member will then drop a rope ladder, which the rest of the tribe will climb. The tribe will then jump off the tower and go over a rolling barrel obstacle. They will then dive and make their way through an underwater fence before releasing a flag and racing up to shore. The first tribe to plant their flag in their flagpost wins.
Reward: Nichal Ramchander will join the winning team.

	Nomfundo	“	I personally think Lisa should've gone tonight. It's quite disconcerting seeing somebody sitting around while you're all getting the shelter ready or going out for food, et cetera, et cetera. I mean, it doesn't quite give the right impression about how you feel about your tribe.	”
