The first season of the Philippine version of Survivor.
The Sole Survivor of the season was J.C. Tiuseco, winning a 7-2 vote (including the fan vote), over Rob Sy.
Production
The inaugural season was set in Ko Tarutao, Thailand, the same place where the fifth American season, Survivor: Thailand, was filmed, with Paolo Bediones as the host. Though the season was advertised to have only 16 castaways, it was later expanded to 18. The castaways were initially divided into two tribes sorted by gender, Jarakay and Naak, Thai words for crocodile and snake respectively, though no Buffs were handed. In a twist, the Buffs were given out at the first Immunity Challenge, where a surprise Tribe Switch occurred.
After the merge, a "Black Pearl" was in play, where the eliminated castaway would hand out a large black ball to one of the remaining castaways, effectively giving that player a vote at the next Tribal Council. The only way to negate the effects of the Black Pearl was to win individual immunity.
The final twist of the season, a fan vote, was counted as the ninth jury vote. The voting period immediately began during the airing of the Final Tribal Council, citing that the show, being a Monday-to-Friday series unlike its American counterpart, its viewers had relatively more opportunity to get to know the cast.
Twists/Changes
- Men vs. Women: The castaways were initially divided into tribes based on gender. Jarakay consisted of all men, while Naak was composed of all women. However, this twist did not last long as a Tribe Switch occurred on Day 3 just before the first Immunity Challenge.
- Tribe Switch: In a first for any Survivor franchise, there was a Tribe Switch on Day 3 prior to the first Immunity Challenge, with five women moving to Jarakay and five men moving to Naak.
- Double Elimination: On Day 9, a twist instructed the losing tribe to vote out a second castaway after the first, all occurring at a single Tribal Council.
- Kidnapping: The tribe who won the Reward Challenge on Day 10 had the advantage of kidnapping a member from the opposing tribe, and the abductee would stay there for a day. If the abductee's tribe loses the next Immunity Challenge, he/she would be abstained from Tribal Council, could not vote and be voted out.
- Black and White Pearls: During the merge stage, the person voted out, before having his/her torch snuffed out, will receive either one or both of the Pearls and give each Pearl to one of the remaining castaways. The castaway who receives the Black Pearl gets one vote in the following Tribal Council, as long as they are can have votes count against them. In-case the Black Pearl is lost, the holder would then receive two votes. On the other hand, the White Pearl will have one vote subtracted from the count in the receiver's favor in the next Tribal Council, should at least one such vote come up.
- Public Vote: In addition to the eight jury members, an additional jury vote will be cast by television viewers through text, in which the finalist with the higher number of text votes will be given 1 additional jury vote, possibly to break a tie.

Notes: ^1 Niña quit the due to a fractured toe. No vote occurred during her removal.
^2 As part of their victory at the Immunity Challenge, Jarakay abducted one member of Naak. The chosen castaway, Kiko, was also given immunity and did not attend Tribal Council. ^3 Cris did not bring the Cursed Pearl to Tribal Council, so he received two votes instead of one. However, both votes were nullified because he won the Immunity Challenge. ^4 JC and Charisse did not vote as they could only vote for each other. By virtue of winning the Final Immunity Challenge, only Rob voted. ^5 By virtue of winning the public vote, JC received one extra jury vote to win. |
