Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown

Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown is the fourth and final Philippine season of Survivor.

This season is noted to be the one with the most number of quitters, as five separate contestants left the game voluntary during the first six days of the game due to mostly moral reasons. It also had a gender imbalance as there were nine males and eleven females.

The season was won by Comedian and TV host Betong Sumaya Jr. with the vote of 4–2–1, defeating Mara Yokohama and Stef Prescott.

Production

Filipino model-actor Richard Gutierrez reprised his hosting stint for the second time after Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown. Unlike the previous season, and any other celebrity and non-celebrity seasons in any Survivor franchise, this installment would feature celebrities grouped as couples with preexisting relationships. Teasers of castaways' identities were partially revealed in the third week of October 2011. A week after the teasers were revealed, the identities of the celebrity castaways were then fully identified.

Twists/Changes

Celebrity castaways & Doubles format: 20 celebrity contestants would paired off into 10 groups of 2, where initially a pair must be voted out together.
Temptation Reward: The winning tribe in a Reward Challenge would choose one or two of their own to partake in the Temptation Reward. After being shown the reward, the chosen one/s were then also presented with the consequence that comes upon accepting the Temptation Reward. Declining from the Temptation Reward is also an option, if those chosen would deem accepting it be too harmful for their life in the game.
Second Reward Challenge in a Cycle: Also used in season 2, this occurred on Cycle 11 when the castaways fought for a car.
Tribal Shuffle: Occurring on Cycle 4, this ended the "doubles" format, as the pairs were broken down, with one going to Bulan and the other to Tala.

Notes: ^1 Geneva quit the game due to emotional distress. Her partner KC however, was allowed to compete as an individual contestant. ^2 Angelika and Jackie quit the game, believing their morals conflicted with the nature of the game. No vote occurred during their removal. ^3 Shortly after Angelika and Jackie's exit, Ellen and Filo also expressed their desire to quit the game, citing the harsh realities of the game were too much to bear. ^4 By taking the twin Immunity Bracelets during the Temptation Reward, Maribel and Mara were separated, with Maribel going to Tala. ^5 All votes cast were negated, causing a null vote. Survivor Philippines rules stated that playing an Immunity Bracelet was only effective for one voting round; thus the castaways who played were eligible to be voted for in voting rounds following tie and null votes. Further, because Maribel was eliminated and her Immunity Bracelet used, Mara was forced to discard her own bracelet, lest she will be eliminated as well as the paired elimination mechanic was still in play. ^6 Following the Tribe Switch, the paired elimination format is abolished; thus the castaways began competing as individual contestants. ^7 Tribal Council resulted in a tie. Per Survivor rules, a revote was held where the castaways involved in the tie would not vote and the remaining castaways could only vote for those involved in the tie. ^8 The tie vote turned into a deadlock. Per Survivor Philippines rules, a fire-making challenge would be held between the tied players . ^9 An Immunity Bracelet was played, negating all votes against its user.
