Survivor New Zealand is the New Zealand version of Survivor. The first season began airing in May 2017, and its success lead to the production of a second, but also its final season.
History[]
Production of the first season was announced in February 2016 by TVNZ 2 with casting starting right away.[1] Later that year Matt Chisholm was announced as the host and Nicaragua was revealed to be the location for the season.[2][3] A second season was announced with Thailand being the location.
Format Variations[]
Survivor New Zealand generally follows the same format and rules as the American version. Unlike the American version however, the New Zealand version predetermines the name of the merged tribe, as opposed to letting the contestants choose their tribe name.
