This is the first episode of Survivor New Zealand: Thailand.
Story[]
Day 1[]
The castaways arrive in Thailand. It is revealed via confessional that Matt Hancock and Dave Lipanovic are old friends from school. Neither of them plan on telling the rest of the cast.
Jose wins the first Reward Challenge, and she picks Matt to join her. It's revealed that their reward is to be in charge of selecting their respective tribes via Schoolyard Pick, with Jose picking for the blue tribe (Chani) and Matt picking for the yellow tribe (Khangkhaw). Dave is selected for Chani, and Matt confesses that he's relieved that they're on separate tribes and is looking forward to having a potential future ally should both of them make the merge.
Day 2[]
Day 3[]
Chani arrive at the first Tribal Council, and light up their torches. Host Matt discusses the mood in camp, and the tribe claim to be on a united front despite the lack of amenities. Matt asks if any alliances have been formed already, to which Liam claims there hasn't. Matt outright says he doesn't believe them, and that it's looking like a potential blindside. Karla denies this and claims that the whole tribe has been honest and honourable. A blindside does indeed take place, and Jose is voted out 6-3. Before Chani return to camp, Matt tells them that if they were already struggling with their strongest female, they're going to struggle even more now.

Final Words[]
![]() Jose |
“ | Definitely didn't see that coming, and that's fair play to the team, they did well there. I meant what I said and I said what I meant, I respect everyone and I respect everyone's game. This is just a clear sign that I'm not cut out for a cutthroat game like this, and I take that as a credit to myself as much as I take their gameplay as a credit to them. I'm just stoked I came here and I made the impression I did while I was here. | ” |
