Survivor México (2024) is the fifth season of Survivor México.

Production

On January 5, 2024, the opening of digital casting for both the fifth season of Survivor México and the eighth season of La Isla: El Reality was announced. Days later, the dates for the in-person casting were revealed.

The complete cast was revealed on February 20, 2024, during the morning show Venga la Alegría, unveiling the participation of two former contestants from La Isla: El Reality, Ceci Ponce and Gaby Fernández. After a few days, the official start date of the season was revealed to be March 11, 2024.

Twists/Changes

• Tribe Captains: Two totems were hidden in the marooning challenge, one for each tribe. The players who found their tribe's totem would become the respective tribe captains. In the event that someone found the totem of the opposing tribe, they would have the power to designate the opposing tribe's captain. The captains would make important decisions throughout the competition.
• Impromptu First Extinction Duel: On Night 2, the tribe captains lit their torches to subsequently have to light the torch of eight of their tribemates one by one. The castaway from each tribe whose torch was not lit by their captain would immediately face the first Extinction Duel in order to light their torch.

Itzel and Janette, as the castaways whose torches were not lit, were immediately nominated to the first Extinction Duel. ^2 Instead of being permanently eliminated from the game, this castaway was sent to Exile. ^3 Because Chile joined the game later in the week, he was exempt from voting and from being nominated. ^4 The winner(s) of the Individual Immunity had to directly nominate a member of the tribe. ^5 The tribe was subjected to a verbal vote, wherein the castaway with the highest number of votes would be sent to Exile. In this cycle, the exiled castaway from the losing tribe of the Immunity Challenge would automatically be nominated to the Extinction Duel. ^6 In a Deliberation Hut, a castaway was directly nominated. In this cycle, if the exiled castaway's tribe lost the Immunity Challenge, they would automatically be nominated to the Extinction Duel. ^7 This castaway missed Tribal Council due to medical intervention by production but was not yet deemed unable to continue in the game.
