Supervivientes is the Spanish version of the popular reality television series Survivor. It has aired on Telecinco from 2000 to 2001 and again since 2006; on laSiete from 2009 until its closure in 2014; and on Antena 3 from 2003 to 2005.
The format of Supervivientes has changed significantly over time. The first two seasons were known as Supervivientes: Expedición Robinson, which closely followed the US Survivor format. The next two seasons were known as La isla de los FamoS.O.S., with the fifth season being known as La Selva de los FamoS.O.S. These seasons' format was similar to Big Brother and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and included celebrities as contestants. Celebrities have featured in every season since. The sixth season was known as Aventura en África, and every season since has simply been known as Supervivientes.
The first season offered a prize of 10,000,000 pesetas; the second season offered 20,000,000 pesetas; the third, fifth and sixth seasons offered a €60,000 prize; every other season up to the present day has offered €200,000 in prize money and sometimes a car.
Format Variations[]
For the first two seasons, Supervivientes closely followed the format of Survivor (U.S.). All subsequent versions have followed a different set of rules that have included a nominations, evictions, and a winner chosen by the public.

Trivia[]
- The show was originally commissioned by TVE with the title Los Robinsones, however the network panicked after the premiere of Gran Hermano (which eventually became a ratings megahit) attracted controversy in some quarters, and pulled the plug at the last minute. Telecinco, buoyant after the success of GH, took the opportunity to snap up the rights.
- It was erroneously reported in December 2019 that the format had jumped ship back to Antena 3, however this turned out to be false.
