A Split Tribal Council is a twist where a merged tribe is temporarily divided into two teams, both of which will attend separate Tribal Councils to vote out one member of each team. The merged tribe will then reunite thereafter.
Overview[]
The twist was introduced in Survivor: Ghost Island. Host Jeff Probst would announce prior to the Immunity Challenge that the merged tribe would temporarily be divided into two teams, with one person from each team winning immunity. The two teams then attended separate Tribal Councils, with the team of the person who lasted the longest in the Immunity Challenge going second, thereby having the knowledge of who had been voted out in the first Tribal Council.
Since Survivor 45, the person voted out by the losing team in the Immunity Challenge will not sit on the jury.
