Similar to the U.S. version of the reality television series Survivor, the Sole Survivor is the title given to the winner of the game. However, it should be noted that not every edition employs a jury system, where a final challenge is held to determine the winner. Some versions of Survivor call the winner the Ultimate Survivor.

Criteria[]

In many editions, a jury, consisted of the most recently eliminated contestants, decides which among the finalists wins the game. In some versions, the winner is decided by a final challenge, or by a viewer vote.

Multiple Winners in a Season[]

In seasons featuring two winners, the shared title given to the winners is Dual Survivors. So far, Dual Survivors have been featured in Koh-Lanta: Bocas del Toro, Koh-Lanta: Palawan, L'Isola dei Famosi 10, Robinson: Love Edition, Survivor: Greece vs. Turkey (2019), Survivor: Dominikanska Republika, Koh-Lanta: Le Totem Maudit, Survivor Hrvatska & Srbija 2023, and Survivor Hrvatska & Srbija 2024.

Due to the team-based nature of the show, Into the Shangri-La (2001) is the only season with more than two winners. With eight winners, the shared title given to them is Octal Survivors.

Trivia[]

  • In the Australian version, the finalists' families are flown on location to witness the winner reveal.
  • The French version's twenty-seventh season is the only time in the Survivor franchise where a Sole Survivor was not crowned, as Claude Dartois had his title revoked for cheating.
  • The Philippine version's first season had the viewers vote through SMS as the "ninth" jury member. With the version being aired Mondays to Fridays, the viewers were given enough opportunities to get to know the survivors.
  • The United Kingdom's second season has the viewers vote by calling one of two phone numbers as the "seventh" jury member. This occurs across the final episode, which consists of a recap of the show in front of a live audience as well as interviews with the finalists.
  • The Philippine version's third season had the jury vote at the live finale show in front of an audience. The jurors and the final four jointly voted for the final member of the jury on location, the results of which were revealed at said live show.
  • The Greece vs. Turkey seasons, as well as the Croatia vs. Serbia seasons, have 2 winners, 1 winner for each country.
