Shona Macdonald is a contestant from Survivor South Africa: Champions and Survivor South Africa: Return of the Outcasts.
In Champions, Shona forged a Final Two pact with David de Wet after receiving a clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol at a surprise Reward Challenge. However, after flipping on David and stealing his idol, Shona was exposed to her Rugrats Alliance by an infuriated David. Painted as untrustworthy, Shona was swiftly voted out by the Rugrats at the Double Tribal Council.
In Return of the Outcasts, Shona was unable to escape her reputation for being untrustworthy, but managed to survive the early Yontau votes until the tribe switch. There, a poor judgment call to join the Masu-controlled Yontau tribe put her at an immediate numerical disadvantage, and her standing deteriorated as she tried to dictate the tribe's living habits. After a grueling Immunity Challenge where she sustained a rib injury, Shona recovered in time for Tribal Council; despite having a plan to take advantage of the Breakfast Club's split vote to blindside one of their rivals, Phil Dickson's last-minute decision to renege caused Shona to be blindsided instead.

Shona MacDonald is a successful, self-starting entrepreneur with a lingerie and swimwear brand she has been running for a few years. She is also developing a new dating app and has been accepted to take this further at a tech incubator in South America this year.
She successfully pitched her business idea on Shark Tank and secured the investment she needed to boost her business when three of the five Sharks offered her capital. She is very proud of this moment because she feels she was seen as a strong, confident businesswoman.
Shona wants to make a difference in the world and advocates for body-positivity, independence, and flying the South African flag. She feels it is her purpose and study to contribute to the country, its economy, and its people.
During her previous season, she was overwhelmed and struggled to make connections, with her self-awareness and insecurity taking over. Despite her strengths as a social player, being called out by her captain as a weak physical player set her game back in a way that she found she couldn't come back from.[3]Survivor South Africa[]
Champions[]
Shona was picked by Corné Krige to be on the Selatan tribe at the start of the season. Over the first few days, Shona formed a close bond David de Wet, though the pair were viewed as outsiders by the rest of the tribe for being the physically weakest. After Selatan lost the inaugural Immunity Challenge on Day 3, Zavion Kotze and his alliance looked to target Shona for elimination. Shona's position was further compromised when Corné selected her and David as the two players most likely to be eliminated from Selatan, unknowingly sending them to compete in a Reward Challenge against Utara. Though Shona and David lost the challenge, they were given a clue to Selatan's Hidden Immunity Idol, which they agreed to share together.
After returning to camp, Shona distracted the rest of the tribe by crying on the beach, allowing David to successfully find the idol. Despite this, she still remained the target of Zavion's alliance heading into Tribal Council. However, when Graham Jenneker became wary of his standing in Zavion's group, he recruited Shona, David, Altaaf Sheik, Moyra Makina, and Gena Alkana to form a counter-alliance against them. Together, this alliance (dubbed the "Rugrats") kept Shona safe at the first Tribal Council, blindsiding Zavion's ally Ashleigh Bryant instead.
By Day 7, Shona had grown wary of David after he initially refused to show her where he had buried the idol. This prompted Shona to target David on Day 9, with the assumption that if David were to eliminated, she would then be the only person on Selatan to know of the idol's location. Convinced her plan would be successful, Shona even went as far as to find and take the idol for herself; without David's permission. After discovering that his idol was missing, an irate David publicly confronted Shona, demanding she return the idol to him. The rest of the tribe ultimately sided with David, forcing Shona to hand over the idol to Corné for safe-keeping.
At Tribal Council, Shona tried to defend her actions by saying that she did not want David to waste the idol before the merge. Unfortunately for her, the rest of the tribe did not believe her excuses and deemed her too untrustworthy to keep in the game, unanimously eliminating her in a 7-1 vote over David.

Return of the Outcasts[]
Shona entered the game as a member of the Yontau tribe, which was comprised of contestants who did not reach the merge in their original season. Not wishing to play with volatile players, Shona largely avoided conflict, but ahead of Yontau's first vote on Day 7, Shona secretly crafted a fake Hidden Immunity Idol to hide at Tribal Council for future protection. By Day 9, Shona joined Tevin Naidu and Seamus Holmes' alliance in an attempt to eliminate Pinty Nkanjeni, but was left on the outs when Phil Dickson rallied the votes to eliminate Tevin instead.
Following Tevin's blindside, Shona was quick to distance herself from Seamus, who blamed Tevin's elimination on Dino Paulo. When Yontau lost immunity again, Seamus approached Shona with a plan to eliminate Dino by convincing the women of the tribe to vote with him. While Shona told him she was on board, she quickly exposed Seamus' intentions to the majority alliance in an effort to gain favor with them. This proved to be successful, leading to Seamus' near unanimous vote out.
At the Day 12 tribe switch, Shona received the odd-colored yellow vial, giving her the option to choose which tribe she would like to join. Wanting to preserve the original Yontau's numbers on both tribes, Shona chose to remain on Yontau with Dino and Phil, despite now being in a 4-3 minority against the original Masu members. At the Immunity Challenge the next day, Shona was body slammed in the chest by Pinty, leaving her unable to breath. Though the medical team was initially concerned that she may have cracked a rib, Shona was ultimately given clearance to return to the game.
With Tribal Council approaching, the original Masu members planned to split their votes between Dino and Shona, targeting the latter. However, Shona and the original Yontau planned to blindside Danté De Villiers, using Shona's fake Hidden Immunity Idol to scare Masu into voting for Dino. Dino would then play his own Hidden Immunity Idol, canceling their votes and eliminating Danté. At Tribal Council, Shona chose not to reveal her fake idol, preventing the split vote from changing. Despite this, Dino still used his own idol, negating the three votes cast against him. At the last second though, Phil switched his vote to Shona in order to ensure his own protection, eliminating her in a 3-2-0 vote over Danté.
