Shipwrecked (also known as Raft Rescue, Shipwrecked Raft Rescue, and Caged Tigers) is a recurring physical challenge from Survivor.
Rules[]
Rowers from each tribe would have to paddle out and pick up crates or their tribemates. The first tribe to finish wins. In Ghost Island, the teams were required to solve a puzzle after picking up their members.
In Marquesas and All-Stars, the tribes are delivered sets of bamboo either via Tree Mail, or personally delivered by host Jeff Probst. The tribes would have to design their own raft for them to paddle at the challenge.
History[]
The challenge debuted in Borneo as an Immunity Challenge. One rower from each tribe must rescue all their tribemates, who are stranded in the ocean. The rescued teammates can then help the rower in gathering their other tribemates. A river guide by profession, Kelly Wiglesworth of Tagi was confident in her rowing abilities. However, she was left stunned when Gervase Peterson of Pagong was able to out-row her, leading his tribe to victory, sending Tagi to Tribal Council.
The challenge reappeared in Marquesas, with host Jeff Probst unloading bamboo from a boat and giving it to the tribes to build their own raft. At the challenge, the tribes had to race to pick up five supply crates and return to the finish. The tribes were relatively even throughout the challenge, but Rotu barely edged out Maraamu to win reward.
The challenge reappeared in All-Stars, with tribes being required to build a raft as in Marquesas, and rescue two tribemates in the ocean, similar to Borneo, then grab a tribe flag from a floating crate and return to shore. Saboga fell behind early because even though their raft looked nice, it didn't go very fast, while Mogo Mogo's horrible design of the raft didn't hurt their speed. Mogo Mogo finished first, followed by Chapera, winning both tribes reward, thus dissolving the last place Saboga tribe.
The challenge reappeared in Ghost Island as a post-merge Reward Challenge. Similar to All-Stars, two members of each team would paddle out to rescue three teammates on floating platforms, albeit locked in a cage. Once all three are rescued, the team can head to shore to unlock a net in order to solve a puzzle. The orange team of Chelsea Townsend, Jenna Bowman, Kellyn Bechtold, Michael Yerger, and Sebastian Noel were the first to make it to shore, allowing them to finish their puzzle ahead of the purple team and win reward.
