Survivor[]
Due to being 30 years of age, Shannon was placed on the younger La Flor tribe at the beginning of the season. Upon reaching La Flor's camp, Shannon immediately approached Chase Rice for an alliance, telling him that they should not let a woman win (stipulated that two women had won the two preceding seasons, Samoa and Heroes vs. Villains). After losing the second Immunity Challenge, Shannon rallied an alliance of six, targeting NaOnka Mixon because of her weakness in challenges and combative demeanor. However, his allies Alina Wilson and Kelly Bruno told Shannon that Brenda Lowe was more of a threat because of her budding friendship with Chase, causing him to target her instead.
At La Flor's first Tribal Council, Shannon berated Chase for not wanting to vote out Brenda. The rest of the tribe then began to question Shannon's trustworthiness. Confused and angered by the conversation, Shannon verbally attacked Sash Lenahan, asking the latter about his sexuality. In an attempt to calm Shannon down, Fabio Birza told him that he was causing too much conflict in the tribe. Alina further defended Shannon, stating that he never lied to anyone, but that Chase had. Despite Alina and Shannon's arguments, the majority of the tribe deemed that Shannon was creating too much tension, and he was voted out in a 7-3 vote.

Post-Survivor[]
- The tension-filled Tribal Council stirred controversy because of Shannon's seemingly derogatory remarks about the LGBT community. In an interview, Shannon declared that he is neither a homophobe nor a sexist. He then apologized to Sash Lenahan for what happened and it was not what he intended to say. He somewhat blamed the editing of the episode, for he claimed that the viewers did not see the whole Tribal Council proceedings and he did not intend to hurt anyone, although he later commented that he was only trying to "protect his butthole". Additionally, he made a YouTube video with former Survivor: Fiji contestant Boo Bernis. This video was turned private and currently inaccessible. However, at the Reunion Show, he claimed that he meant what he said.[2]
Trivia[]
- Shannon met Boo Bernis at the Fiji Reunion Show, whom he credits as the reason why he cast on Survivor.[3]
- Shannon is the one who gave Fabio Birza his nickname because the latter looked like Fabio Lanzoni.
- Shannon is the lowest-placing member of the original La Flor tribe.
