Selviytyjät Suomi 5, also known as Selviytyjät: Pohjola, is the fifth season of Selviytyjät Suomi and the seventh season of the Finnish version of Survivor.

After 33 days in Haparanda, Kristian Heiskari defeated Marianne Kiukkonen in a 6-3 vote to become the Sole Survivor.

Production[]

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the season was filmed in the forests of Haparanda, Sweden, just over the border from Finland.^[1] 15 episodes aired from February 27 to June 5, 2021. The prize for the winner was 30,000 euros.

The name 'Pohjola' comes from a slightly ubiquitous northern area mentioned in the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic. While there have been attempts to connect Pohjola to a real-world location, it is generally accepted to simply be a microcosm for any frozen landscape in the north of Fennoscandinavia, not necessarily Haparanda itself.^{[citation needed]}

Twists/Changes[]

Celebrities: The cast consisted of 16 Finnish celebrities, such as athletes, performers and actors, television personalities, and other public figures in Finnish media.
Tribe Switch: At the final thirteen, the castaways were switched into two new tribes.
Earn the Merge: At final ten, the castaways would compete in two groups of five for a spot in the merge. The five who lost would be nominated to be voted out at the next Tribal Council, and only those who won would be able to vote. However, this season, those eligible would only cast black votes that would count at the next Tribal Council.
Immunity Amulet: The Immunity Amulet could be used by a player to negate any votes cast against them at Tribal Council.
Shadow Amulet: The Shadow Amulet could be used by a player to negate any votes cast against them at Tribal Council, but only after an Immunity Amulet has been played.
Extra Jury Vote: The winner of the Final Immunity Challenge could choose a jury member to vote twice at Final Tribal Council.

Selviytyjät Suomi 5 is the first season of Selviytyjät Suomi since Selviytyjät Suomi 1 to not be filmed in the Philippines.
- It is also the first season to be filmed domestically.
