Ruling the Roost is the fourth episode of Survivor: Cook Islands.

Story

“	Can the men and women of one tribe find a way to pull it together and work as a team, or will their gender division be their downfall? When Candice returns from Exile Island, her tribemates want to know why she thinks the other tribe decided to send her, thus keeping her safe from Tribal Council. J.P.'s dominance and controlling demeanor around camp anger some of the women in his tribe. Will this behavior put a target on his back? As the only member left from his original tribe, Ozzy proves his worth by catching a feast of fish, but will this be enough to keep him in the game?	”

Challenge: Sacrificial Lamb
Two players are harnessed to a rope winding through several obstacles. The rest of their tribe helps them move along up and over an A-frame, under a thick log on the sand, around a long hitching post, and around a giant boxlike structure to the end of the rope. Then, one player swims to a buoy and dives down to retrieve a decoder wheel before coming back, where the entire tribe uses it to work out a six-word phrase.
Reward: Three blankets, two pillows, and one hammock.
Winner: Aitutaki (exiled Adam Gentry)

Challenge: Mayday
Four players untie and assemble a wooden puzzle stretcher, lock it in place with metal braces, then run to the beach. One swims out to a mast and climbs a rope ladder to free a hostage, then they both swim back holding a life ring. The victim gets on the stretcher and is carried back. Finally, the three remaining tribe members must make a fire large enough to burn through a rope, lowering the tribe flag. The first tribe to do so wins immunity.

	Brad	“	(voting against J.P.) You cannot come into a game, guns blazing, because at the end of the day, it's going to rub a lot of people the wrong way. And, in the words of Heidi Klum, "Auf wiedersehen".	”

	Cristina	“	(voting against J.P.) J.P., I think you're a great guy. I just think that you had your game face on, and none of us wanted to be played. I think you're a really good guy though, so hopefully we can still meet and do those projects we talked about. Good luck.	”

	Rebecca	“	(voting against J.P.) I choose you, J.P., because when you spoke this morning, you forgot about the alliance you made and you gave a speech about something totally different.	”

	Nate	“	(voting against Stephannie) Your wish is my command.	”

	Parvati	“	(voting against J.P.) There are just one too many cooks in the kitchen. We've gotta let one go. Sorry.	”

Final Words

	J.P.	“	Wow. This is something I never, ever saw coming. It takes more than just being strong and big and physical and thinking you're mentally tough. You gotta really watch your back. There's no hard feelings, that's the way the game is played, and man, they really pulled one over on me. You definitely can't trust anybody in this game, there's no way.	”
