Robinsonekspedisjonen 2008 (also known as Robinsonekspedisjonen: Himmel eller Helvete) is the ninth season of Robinsonekspedisjonen. This season is remembered for having the highest number of unorthodox eliminations for the series, ultimately featuring three quits and two evacuations.
In the end, Tom Tveitan defeated Britt Carin Jonassen in a 6-1 jury vote to become the Sole Survivor.
Production[]
7,000 participants applied to be on this season, which was a record for the series. Due to the number of unorthodox eliminations, all reserves for the season entered the game shortly before the merge.
Twists/Changes[]
- Day 1 Eliminations: For the first Reward Challenge, each tribe had to scale a high wall, but both had to leave one person behind, eliminating them. The first tribe to make it to the beach on the other side of the wall, place their tribe flag in its holder and have all their remaining members touching it would win.
- Heaven vs. Hell: The tribe that won the Reward Challenges in "Episode 1" and "Episode 2" would live at a camp with many luxuries, including huts, beds and pool inflatables, known as "Heaven". The tribe that lost would live in a bat cave with scarce resources, known as "Hell". In "Episode 3", the twist was disbanded, and both tribes would live at a normal camp.
- Episode 2 Duel: After the second Reward Challenge, both castaways who were eliminated on Day 1 returned to their tribes. However, both tribes had to send one person to a duel, with the loser being eliminated.
- Tribe Switch: The winner of the duel in "Episode 2" would switch tribes.
- Double Elimination: After it was discovered that the South Team had thrown the Immunity Challenge to eliminate a castaway, another castaway was eliminated immediately afterwards via a rock draw.
- Black Vote: The castaway voted out in the "Episode 3" Tribal Council would earn the right to cast a black vote against a former tribemate of their choice. This vote would be counted at the tribemate's next Tribal Council.
- Bribery: In "Episode 6", the three remaining castaways on the South Team were offered a trip, courtesy of Malaysian Airlines, in exchange for leaving the game. If a castaway took the trip, they would send the other two to the abandoned "Hell" camp.
- Jokers: Due to the high number of unorthodox eliminations, three new castaways entered the game shortly before the merge. These castaways were the season's reserves.
- False Elimination Challenge: Before the merge, the castaways took part in a challenge, and were told that the loser would be eliminated. However, it was later revealed that the loser could pick another castaway and challenge them to a duel. The loser of the duel would be eliminated, and the winner would join the merged tribe.
- Final Three Challenge: For the first time in the series, instead of occurring at the final four, the final three castaways competed in a challenge. The winners would form the Final Two, with the losers being eliminated.
