Robinson Ekspeditionen 2009 is the thirteenth season of Robinson Ekspeditionen.
Villy Eenberg defeated Maureen Cruz and Nicolai Karlson in a final challenge to become the Sole Survivor.
Production[]
This series' opening twist garnered significant controversy both in Denmark and in Malaysia. On Day 2, the castaways were forced to take part in a nude race in order to progress any further. Many castaways said they felt humiliated by the experience (comparing it to stripping in public) and Malaysian authorities called an urgent meeting with production about the challenge, saying it didn't align with the country's Muslim values. Production were interrogated by various government ministers and were eventually allowed to continue, with TV3 stating a producer had been fired for the event, though this person had left filming for other reasons and was not fired. Following a 500,000 kroner fine, filming was allowed to continue. The twist would eventually be shown on TV, but only a brief sequence of the castaways' feet were shown due to British broadcasting regulations (TV3 being headquartered in London) forbidding nudity prior to 10pm.
Twists/Changes[]
- Dumb vs. Smart: Prior to filming, the castaways took an IQ test and were informed that the tribes would be divided based on their IQ, with those with lower scores being part of the 'Dum (Dumb)' tribe and those with higher scores being part of the 'Klog (Smart)' tribe. However, production later stated that this division was completely random, and was purely a psychological experiment.
- Day 2 Eliminations: On Day 2, the castaways were told to complete a 'nude race' in order to advance any further. Sascha Kristiansen refused to take part and was eliminated immediately. 5 men who completed the course did so only in their underwear, and as a punishment, the last of them to finish eating a plate of larvae would be eliminated. Michael Kristiansen, Sascha's brother, was eliminated in this challenge.
- Challenge Eliminations: At several different occasions, there would be eliminations based on performance in challenges. In addition to Sascha and Michael, Trine Lindeborg was eliminated on Day 2; Kim Duelund and Mira Thomsen were eliminated on Day 20 after being the slowest to swim to shore from a raft; Sandra Adelheid was eliminated on Day 30 and Villy Eenberg was eliminated on Day 34.
- Utopia: Following the merge, the castaways would compete in duels to return to the game after being eliminated. However, this did not occur for Trine, Anita Christensen and Kenneth Jensen, who quit the game, much to the host's anger. Andrew Prasana, Linda Gaisie, Rasmus Bjerregaard, Therese Trebbien, Villy Eenberg and Eileen Pehrsson all returned to the game through Utopia.
- Mole: A mole would be in the game, and cause chaos around camp. They would get money for each assignment completed.
- Mole's Council: One Tribal Council would belong to the Mole, and they would eliminate two castaways.
- Mole Gong: If a castaway thought they knew who the Mole was, they could bang on the Mole Gong. If they were right, the Mole would no longer be a mole, but still be in the game. If they were wrong, they would be eliminated. Throughout the game, it was only used once, and caused the elimination of Lotte Ebdrup.
- Actor: Gerard Carey Bidstrup acted as a castaway named Anders Hansen. His role was to cause chaos by getting removed from the game by police on suspicion of killing his girlfriend. The host would have no contact with "Anders" whatsoever, and he could get voted out like everyone else.
- Joker: In order to replace "Anders", Maureen Cruz entered the game in episode 5.
- Tribe Switch: There was a Tribe Switch in episode 5.
