Robinson 2022 is the twenty-first season of Expedition Robinson. The season was filmed in the Dominican Republic between July and September of 2021.

Filip Johansson defeated Jessica Jonasson in the final challenge to become the Sole Survivor.

Twists/Changes

• Change of Location: This season returned to filming abroad, this time, to the Dominican Republic, after the previous season was recorded in the north of Sweden. The last time Robinson recorded here was in 2009 with Robinson: Karibien.
• The Borderlands: The Borderlands returned in this season on Day 1, this time with a group of returning castaways from previous seasons competing in duels for a chance to get into the main game.
• Tribe Captains: Each week, the tribes internally choose one of their fellow tribemates to become their Tribe Captain. The person chosen would be eligible to cast two votes when they attended Tribal Council.
• Additional Tribemates: On Day 4, the Tribe Captains plus two fellow tribemates took part in a blind speed date with four new castaways, Christina Nordback, Jabril Smith, Peter Szabo and Sandra Cucarano. Afterwards, they got to pick which castaway they would want to join their tribe, and in case of a tie, the castaway themselves would pick which tribe to join.
• Mock Tribal Council: After the first cycle's Tribal Council, the North Team had to partake in a Tribal Council of their own. The person voted out would get to choose which tribe they would return to.
• Urns of Faith: After the second cycle's Tribal Council, the eliminated castaway got to choose and smash one of eight different urns. Six of the urns contained a Bloody Hand Vote, while two of them contained a Duel. After the merge at the seventh cycle's Tribal Council, two more Urns of Faith were added, one containing a Bloody Revenge Vote, and one containing a Duel.

• Bloody Revenge Vote: If the castaway received a Bloody Revenge Vote, they would be able to cast a vote towards any tribemate of their choosing with a bloody handprint, which would apply at the chosen tribemate's next Tribal Council.
• Duel: If the castaway received a Duel, they could challenge one of their former tribemates to a duel, where the winner would return to the game.

• COVID-19 Outbreak: During the second cycle, it was revealed several castaways in the South Team had tested positive for COVID-19 and were quietly evacuated from the game. Any remaining castaways had to be kept in quarantine until further notice, which meant no partaking in any Challenges nor Tribal Councils. On Day 21, Filip Johansson and Hanna Bergwall got to rejoin the game after being isolated for over ten days.
• East Team: In response to the South Team being quarantined, all remaining players in the Borderlands got to enter the game, forming the new East Team​.
• West Team: On Day 21, before the fifth cycle's Tribal Immunity Challenge, a completely new team called the West Team​, consisting of Desirée Renfors, Elin Brynzér, Henrik Appelberg and Tommie Gyllin entered the game, though it was shortlived as they got dissolved into the remaining tribes shortly after.
• Tribe Switch: When the South Team and West Team got to join the other tribes, Tribe Captains Peter and Mattias Pettersson had to pick the new North Team and East Team via a Schoolyard Pick, but having to pick for the opposite tribe.
• Fate Challenges: During the sixth cycle, it was revealed instead of the regular Reward and Immunity Challenges, there would be two Fate Challenges, in which the winning tribe in each challenge would get to pick three castaways from the opposing tribe and force them to attend that week's Tribal Council. The chosen six got to compete at an Individual Immunity Challenge before their Tribal Council.
• Tribal Auction: During "Episode 29", a Tribal Auction was held between three members from each tribe, where they bid on various items and advantages.

• Extra Vote: One of the items offered was an Extra Vote, which can be used up until the penultimate Tribal Council.
• Immunity Nullifier: Another advantage offered was a small wooden figurine, which when used, would be able to nullify a castaway's Individual Immunity.

• Double Elimination: At the sixth cycle's Tribal Council, it was announced that the two castaways that received the most votes would both be voted out.
• The Stronghold and The Shack: After the merge in the seventh cycle, the castaways competed in a challenge. The winner became the Captain of the Stronghold and got to pick three other members to join them in the Stronghold. All members of the Stronghold were the only castaways to have voting rights at Tribal Council, while the remaining castaways had to live in the Shack without any voting rights. But those living in the Shack were able to regain their voting rights by doing chores for the Stronghold and competing in a Voting Rights Challenge.

• Voting Rights Challenge: Members from both the Stronghold and the Shack competed against each other in a team-based challenge, where if the Shack won, they would collectively regain some of their voting rights.

• Final Week Challenges: During the tenth and final cycle, the remaining castaways competed in three separate challenges. The winning castaway in each challenge would get 15 points, the castaway who finished in second place would get 10 points, while the rest of the castaways would get 5 points. After the three challenges, the castaway with the most points would automatically secure their spot in the Final Challenge as part of the Final Two. In two of the challenges, the castaway who finished in last place would be eliminated from the game.
• Final Tribal Council: Directly after the Tribal Council on Day 41, an additional Tribal Council was held, with the remaining four castaways, alongside the four most recently eliminated castaways, voted for which castaway they wanted to see advance to the final day.
• Final Day: On Day 42, the final day, the final three castaways competed in a fire-making challenge, with the castaway who finished last being eliminated from the game. The final two castaways then competed in the Final Challenge called The Plank, where the first castaway to win two heats would become the Sole Survivor.

Sandra chose to join the South Team. ^2 After Angela was voted out, she smashed an Urn of Faith containing a Duel where she challenged Shevin for her spot in the game. ^3 Hayes was able to cast two votes due to being the Tribe Captain during that cycle. ^4 Mattias received an extra vote to cast, courtesy of Joel from the North Team after the latter won a bocce challenge in the North Team. ^5 Linn got to cast an additional vote by stealing Tribe Captain Mattias' vote after beating him in a taco-eating challenge. ^6 The Black Vote cast against Linn was nullified after she won the fourth Individual Immunity Challenge. ^7 Angela received a Bloody Hand Vote from Anna in their previous Tribal Council, but it was nullified when Mattias gave her the Individual Immunity necklace. ^8 Mattias was able to cast two votes as he was the Tribe Captain during that cycle. ^9 After Mattias was voted out, he smashed an Urn of Faith containing a Duel where he challenged Jessica for her spot in the game. ^10 This Tribal Council became a double elimination Tribal Council, where the two castaways with the most votes would both be eliminated. ^11 Jessica received a black vote for finishing last in the sixth cycle's Individual Immunity Challenge. ^12 The Black Vote for Jessica was nullified after she won immunity at the eighth cycle's Individual Immunity Challenge. ^13 Joel received a black vote after coming in last at the eighth cycle's Voting Rights Challenge. ^14 Henrik received a black vote after being chosen by a lottery wheel handled by host Anders. ^15 Peter received a black vote after coming in last at the ninth cycle's second Individual Immunity Challenge. ^16 Joel used his Extra Vote Advantage he had purchased from the sixth cycle's Tribal Auction. ^17 The Black Vote for Peter was nullified after he was eliminated from the game by finishing in last place at the second Final Week Challenge in the tenth cycle. ^18 After Hanna was voted out, she smashed an Urn of Faith containing a Duel where she challenged Henrik for his spot in the game. ^19 At the Final Tribal Council, the four remaining castaways plus the four most recently eliminated castaways voted for whom they wanted to go through to the final day. The castaway who received the least amount of votes would be eliminated from the game.
