Plan Z is the fourth episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols.
Story[]
Night 8[]
Karishma |
“ | Tonight at tribal, I had a gut instinct that there was some plan in place to take me out. Fortunately, I was the plan B, but I still got three votes, and what that tells me is that to this tribe, I'm expendable, so unless something drastic changes, my life in this game is about go out. I mean these people have already made the decision. Easy peasy, done! | ” |
Aaron |
“ | Karishma feels that she is on the outside, and I know how she's feeling. That was me after the first vote, but I've been able to pick myself back up, and now I feel like I'm calling the shots, so yeah, Karishma-- she's an easy vote. However, there are other people on my radar. In this game one of the things you have to be careful of is when people are coupled together, and Dean and Chelsea-- they're too damn close. When you got two people sleeping on top of each other, that's dangerous! What you have there is a potential power couple, and that's something that has to get squashed! | ” |
Day 9[]
Dean |
“ | Chelsea-- she's got some spunk to her. She's a cutie for sure. She can come back at you with a quip. She can, you know, hang in there with the boys, and I, I really do like that about her; so yeah, I'm super drawn to her. | ” |
Missy |
“ | Dean and Chelsea are snuggling up, and that could mess up the girls' alliance, and so in Survivor, you always have to have more than one plan; so me and Aaron, we have a lot in common: we both went to military academy, we both have had like some experience with the outside world, and being African-American, and we're both very competitive. So we are willing to make a big move, so maybe we do get rid of Dean, because with Dean out of the way, it would break up this pair, and then Chelsea will come back to me and Elizabeth. We'll get the sorority sisters back together. | ” |
Jamal |
“ | This morning in the Vokai tribe, I could not shake this feeling that gets implanted into your bones when you're one of two people left out of a vote. [...] Having been left out of the Molly vote really kickstarted me into making sure I'm protecting myself. Everyone was going out to the water, Jason was going for a walk, and I'm like, "If I didn't look for the idol right now, I'd be stupid. This is the perfect scenario!" [...] Dealing with change has been my whole jam for the past few years. I was in a rough relationship. I was not treating myself with grace and I was not feeling great with myself, and the end of that relationship was really trying for me, but the lesson that I learned from that is how to take things in stride, to move really slowly, not get too worked up about things, be in tune with my surroundings and be here in space and now in time because when you're present, when you're observant, when you're connected in the here and now, moments reveal themselves to you. | ” |
Jamal |
“ | Haha! There it is in all its glory, the Island of the Idols Immunity Idol! Pretty, huh? It is really awesome to find an idol, especially with a tribe who's starting to get lulled into a sense of complacency that they're in control of me... Wrong! Haha! | ” |
Kellee |
“ | Whoever goes to the Island of the Idols is gonna know what I know and can either blow up my game or we can get closer, and we better get closer. | ” |
Jamal |
“ | Most Survivor players know that just the act of going, just like the act of searching for the idol is going to put a target on your back. | ” |
Lauren |
“ | I didn't want to go! I was like, "I'm not going to the Island of the Idols today! I'm staying right here!" | ” |
Jason |
“ | My Survivor fan side of my brain is like "You're going to get that idol! You're going to go, dude!"--and then the mom side of my brain was being like, "You don't need to go! You're gonna be by yourself out there? Just stay! You're safer with numbers!" | ” |
Tommy |
“ | My whole game is about lowering my threat level and making other people more threatening, so there is no way I'm going to volunteer. | ” |
Noura |
“ | We're here to play this game, and I'm a risk-taker! I mean, I quit my job as a CPA to become an entrepreneur. For me it was like a no-brainer; I want to go! Like, I'm going to the Island of the Idols, and I get to figure out what this is about! I'm excited! Like, we're going to have some fun! I see first a man's a face. It's a kind of handsome man's face. To me, you're like, "This kind of looks familiar..." | ” |
Noura |
“ | Wow! Boston Rob and Sandra! I'm super excited to see them and meet them in person. Sandra's a two-time winner! Boston Rob's a winner! [...] These are experts that are coming to you! | ” |
Noura |
“ | They welcome me in, and I'm feeling like, "Okay, maybe I can like talk to them about what's going on with my game, and they can give me some advice." [...] I am not a typical Survivor player. I feel like a novice in this game, and if it's anyone, I need these guys! In that moment, I'm like, "I'm in the right place at the right time!" | ” |
Rob |
“ | In order to persuade someone effectively, you have to understand that person's motivations. [...] It has to line up with something that they want. [...] If you can figure out what it is that this person wants, persuading them should be easy. | ” |
Sandra |
“ | She didn't give it much thought; she just jumped on it. Like, she just took the offer and went with it. That's the mentality that she has, and that'll get her in trouble in the game. | ” |
Rob |
“ | In my opinion, Noura is the last person you'd want in the calling position. She cannot coherently communicate anything to anyone. She's living in "Noura world". This is Survivor; you got to be in "Survivor world". | ” |
Noura |
“ | When I hit the beach, I already am getting a little bit of anxiety because you got a big group, and they're just waiting for the Noura TV show to start and like, click play. | ” |
Noura |
“ | This is all a lie because I have the information, and I could have just given it to them, but what I'm trying to do is secure that caller position because if I can persuade my tribe to let me be the caller, I will get an advantage in this game. If they don't let me, I will lose my vote at the next Tribal Council. | ” |
Noura |
“ | I'm doing the "this for that". The idea is, "Oh, you want to know this information I have. Well, I need this commitment from you guys." | ” |
Dan |
“ | Noura presents us with this bizarre scenario in which we have to choose her role in an unknown game to have her reveal to us what the game is we are going to play tomorrow for the Immunity Challenge. If eyes could do full circles without being in a cartoon, our eyes would be doing full circles. | ” |
Kellee |
“ | This is not a good lie, but it's really good that Noura is now so in this lie that there is no way she could talk about what's actually on Island of the Idols, so pressure's off of me. Thank goodness. | ” |
Noura |
“ | Right now, they're not believing in me; they're questioning me, and honestly I don't think I'm that bad of a caller! I feel like I have a big mouth, a big voice! Even if I was the worst caller, if we're practicing ahead of time and we know what we're going into, I think we should be fine! | ” |
Lauren |
“ | A blind man could see that Noura does not belong on that perch. Like, she does not belong up there. | ” |
Lauren |
“ | If Noura is the caller and we lose, then she would one hundred percent be on the chopping block. [...] If she insists on being the caller, then she better follow through because that's going to be her ass! Ptui! | ” |
Day 11[]
Noura |
“ | My tribe told me to sit out. So after all that, I lost my vote at the next Tribal Council. This might blow up my game. This is a freaking nightmare. | ” |
Missy |
“ | Everyone thinks that Karishma is a dead fish in the water, and honestly she is; but if I have anything to say about it, she's not going anywhere. I'm going to keep Karishma nice and folded up into my pocket, and I'm going to use her vote as I see fit. If I can have two votes instead of one, well, that's a dope day. | ” |
Karishma |
“ | Once again, we lost the challenge. I'm at the bottom, so I'm expecting it to be a unanimous vote against Karishma, and it's killing me! There are certainly bigger threats than me, but this tribe are a bunch of pansies! All they're doing is who is the common denominator that everyone can live with, and today it's me! I don't want to go home, not like this! | ” |
Dean |
“ | Karishma's name has been out there for a while now. She really hasn't done much around camp, really hasn't contributed much when it comes to the puzzles or athletically in challenges, and I feel like she's got to see it coming. I don't think tonight's going to be a blindside. | ” |
Chelsea |
“ | Karishma's making herself an outsider and knows her time is coming to an end, and I know she doesn't have an idol because I'm the one that has it, so I'm in a really good spot. I have really good relationships with people, especially with Dean, and I think that's going to take me far in this game. | ” |
Aaron |
“ | Dean is the one who I want gone. He's under-performing in challenges. He's got Chelsea in his back pocket. He's playing, "I smile at you, make you feel good" kind of game trying to fly under-the-radar, but I don't like that, so he's got to go! | ” |
Elizabeth |
“ | So Aaron pitched voting out Dean, and I was absolutely shocked. Maybe he hasn't shown up for the challenges, but why should I give Karishma the privilege of making it further in this game when Dean is at least gathering firewood, helping cook, building the shelter while Karishma takes a nap?! [...] I sort of was going along with it, but I'm not ready to see Dean go. Nine, ten days ago, I would have said, "Yes, whatever you need. Here's my vote. I'l write it right now and give it to you."-- but while I was on the Island of the Idols, Boston Rob said to me, "You have to look before you leap."-- and right now, I don't think getting Dean out is good for my game. | ” |
Elaine |
“ | Holy crap! Aaron is wantin' to go for Dean, and I was like, "What the hell?". I didn't understand it, and I just feel like, I feel like Aaron's shady. | ” |
Elaine |
“ | If Aaron is willing to cut the throat of his friend, then what's he going to do to me, you know what I mean, like later on? So I don't want to vote Dean, and if they don't have me and Elizabeth, they can't pull that off. | ” |
Aaron |
“ | This is disheartening. It seems like I'm the only one in this tribe that wants to play this game! Everybody else, they're trying to play "Everybody's together and no hurt feelings", but at some point and time, this game's got to get bloody! This kumbaya nonsense has gotten us into this 7-9 hole after tonight, and that's where we're headed, down a road to disaster. | ” |
Missy |
“ | This tribe has a lot of sheep on it, and they're too weak and afraid to make a move, and it's really frustrating. [...] I'm like, "You didn't come here to play Survivor; you came here for a vacation."-- but me, I'm here to play this game and kick some butt! So we can't agree on Dean, we can't agree on Karishma, so I need a name that no one is completely attached to. | ” |
Elaine |
“ | Missy is something else. Literally within ten minutes, she flipped the target onto Chelsea, and her ability to just drop names like that on a dime, it scares me. [...] Right now it's a big cluster****. People are having side-conversations with everybody, and they're all whisperin' and hustlin' and bustlin', with these yahoos, you know. You don't know what they're going to do! So I don't know how it's going to go down. This one is gonna draw a line in the sand, and it's going to let people know where they stand. We'll see how it goes, but it's gonna be real gut-check time. | ” |
Challenges[]
Reward/Immunity Challenge: Ow Pairs
One person from each tribe will be the caller, while the rest of the tribe is blindfolded. The caller, using only verbal commands, must lead three pairs of tribemates to three bags containing keys. Once they have all three bags, the caller will lead their still blindfolded tribemates to a puzzle station, use the keys to open a chest containing puzzle pieces, and lead the last blindfolded member in solving the puzzle. The first tribe to solve their puzzle wins.

Final Words[]
Chelsea |
“ | I'm completely and utterly blindsided. I'm a huge superfan. I dreamed of playing Survivor since I was 8 years old and I really thought I could win this game. I have an idol in my pocket and could've saved myself. So honestly, I'm just embarrassed to not even make the merge... ugh! [facepalms] This is so disappointing. | ” |
