Koh-Lanta[]

Panama[]

In Panama, Philippe was a member of the all-male Mogo tribe and initially formed a bond with Nelson Parente. Philippe joined Raphaël Andrès, Vidéli Dittmar, and Nelson in the construction of their tribe's shelter. At one point, Nelson suggested that they create a floor, but the rest of them disagreed. When the Mogo tribe lost the first Immunity Challenge, older tribe member Jean-Bernard de Cools gave the middle finger to the Chapera tribe and threw his belt at them. Because Jean-Bernard was sanctioned for these actions by losing his right to vote at the first elimination and being exiled for 48 hours, he was unable to cast a crucial vote against Romuald Lafite, who he and most of the other older tribe members were targeting for his laziness, that would have caused the vote to result in a tie. Instead, the three youngest men were now in the majority as they and Vidéli voted against Nelson due to their dislike of his leadership style and Nelson was eliminated in a 4-3 vote.

On Day 8, the Mogo tribe sent Alban Mbossoro and their two scouts, Raphaël and Romuald, to what they thought was going to be a challenge for reward, but it turned out to be a tribe switch. As a result, they were reassigned to the Chapera tribe and their representatives, Linda Alario, SL, and Catherine Ehret-Mader were reassigned to the Mogo tribe. Until later on in the tribal phase, Philippe played quietly and kept himself relatively under the radar, participating in the unanimous eliminations of SL and Jean-Bernard in the process. When Philippe retrieved a pearl from a mollusk, Guillaume Brauer told him that he wanted to keep the pearl as a souvenir. Philippe criticized Guillaume for asking this and, when he noticed that Guillaume and Catherine were bonding well together, he formed an alliance with Linda and Sophie Eeckhout, who still had a tense relationship with Catherine.

Before the merge, Philippe and Romuald represented their respective tribes as Ambassadors after competing in a Hero Challenge that Philippe won for reward. Philippe quickly offered Guillaume's name as the Ambassadors' vote for the first merge elimination, to which Romuald agreed. Over time, Philippe felt that Guillaume was worthy to stay in the game and regretted his decision at the Ambassadors' Meeting, but it was too late. After failing to win the first individual Immunity Challenge, Guillaume was eliminated at the first merge elimination, receiving other votes from the majority of the second Chapera tribe members, who wanted to make it to the final five together, and even Catherine, who realized that Guillaume was emotionally drained and would benefit from leaving the game.

In spite of Linda and Philippe themselves voting for Catherine, they and Sophie saw her flip on Guillaume as treacherous to the second Mogo tribe members. Over the next few days, many of the contestants became ill. Many of the second Chapera tribe members blamed their sickness on eating the moray eel that Raphaël had caught earlier, but Linda, Philippe, and Sophie used this to their advantage and convinced Raphaël that his allies were being ungrateful of him. Despite this, Raphaël didn't budge from his alliance that now included Catherine as an affiliate and Linda was voted out next. To Philippe's benefit, when Odile Héritier was evacuated and eliminated from the game on Day 26 due to persisting illness, Linda returned to the game in her place with immunity at the upcoming elimination. Sophie was the next intended target of Catherine and the majority alliance because of her injured finger and because Linda was immune, but she and Linda argued to the majority alliance that Catherine did not actually deserve to go any further because of her consistent weakness in challenges. With this, the majority alliance realized that tensions between Linda, Sophie, and Catherine would end right away and the camp would be peaceful if Catherine were eliminated next, so all of Catherine's tribemates, except for Alban, voted out Catherine at the next elimination.

In spite of warnings from Denis Brogniart to stop fishing until further notice due to too many sharks migrating close to the island, Raphaël and Philippe still did so on a couple of occasions. They were warned again at the next elimination where, unfortunately for Philippe, Sophie was eliminated next. When Alban won the Reward Challenge at the final six and selected Romuald to share the reward with him, this decision angered the rest of the tribe because Romuald had benefited from more rewards than the rest of the tribe and because Romuald was lazy around camp. Raphaël, who, up until this point, had been talked to on multiple occasions by Linda and Philippe to flip on his alliance, finally did so and Amélie Grégoire joined him. So, because Romuald won the next Immunity Challenge, Alban was voted out. At the final five, Linda and Amélie were now on the block and Romuald was the swing vote. Though he initially told Linda that he'd vote against her at elimination, he ultimately cast his vote against Amélie because he realized that Linda would be easier to beat in the long run.

Philippe won the Orientation challenge at the final four and even though Romuald lost said challenge, the latter was not automatically eliminated as was the case in previous seasons. Instead, he received an extra vote at the upcoming elimination and this left Linda and Philippe in full power. With the rest of the tribe agreeing that Raphaël actually deserved to make it further than Romuald, Romuald was unanimously voted off anyway. After Linda won the Perch challenge at the final three, she chose to take Philippe to the Final Two over Raphaël. There, he won in a unanimous vote due to his politeness, work ethic, and tenacity. After Philippe was declared the Sole Survivor, he gave a portion of his winnings to Raphaël, who he felt was the "spiritual winner" of the season.

Le Retour des Héros[]

For the first portion of the opening sudden death challenge, Philippe was paired up with Filomène Mendonca. Philippe and Filomène were the third pair to finish and, therefore, were safe. After the eliminations of Amel Fatnassi and Jean-Bernard Hauton-Arnaud, Philippe and Filomène were assigned to the Jacaré and Tupan tribes, respectively. On the Jacaré tribe, Philippe emerged as the leader and formed an alliance with romantic couple François-David Cardonnel and Émilie Frahi, which eventually grew to include Clémence Castel as well. Therefore, Christelle Gauzet and Moundir Zoughari were relegated to the minority.

When Christelle cried in isolation because she knew that either she or Moundir would be voted out should the tribe lose an Immunity Challenge, Moundir argued with François-David and Émilie before turning to Philippe. Things became especially heated between Philippe and Moundir, with both of them criticizing one another for hypocritical gameplay and Philippe arguing that Christelle and Moundir were the ones who isolated themselves from everyone else. When Philippe commented that he knew that Moundir would be problematic for the Jacaré tribe, Moundir stormed off with the intention of quitting the game. Though his tribemates believed that he had done so going into the second Immunity Challenge, Denis Brogniart revealed to them that Moundir had changed his mind and Moundir rejoined them wearing a camouflage buff instead of a red one. After the Jacaré tribe lost the second Immunity Challenge, Denis Brogniart revealed to them that Tribal Council would be taking place right there and then. There, the majority alliance voted out Moundir in order to restore peace in the tribe. After a few more verbal exchanges between Philippe and Moundir on the latter's way out, Moundir approached Philippe to assault him, which he likely would have done had Denis Brogniart and François-David not intervened. When the Jacaré tribe lost the third Immunity Challenge, Christelle was voted out unanimously.

Before the tribes merged, Denis Brogniart informed both tribes separately that it was time for them to appoint Ambassadors. He also informed them that the power of the Ambassadors has increased: instead of casting a vote against someone, the Ambassadors have to eliminate someone. With none of them having the heart to potentially eliminate one of their own, the Jacaré tribe agreed to draw straws for the role because, if the Ambassadors do not reach a consensus, they would have to opt for a rock draw in which one of them would be eliminated instead. Philippe drew the short straw and became the Ambassador for the Jacaré tribe. At the Ambassadors' Meeting, Philippe met with fellow Panama contestant Catherine Ehret-Mader, who became the Ambassador for the Tupan tribe after volunteering for the position. Philippe and Catherine failed to convince one another to turn on one of their respective allies and, after the consequential rock draw, Philippe was eliminated from the game. As someone who had already won the game, Philippe did not regret opting for the rock draw and he was seen as a hero by his former tribemates for his sacrifice.

^1 At the ambassadors meeting, Catherine and Philippe could not decide on a castaway to eliminate. Because of this, they drew rocks, and Philippe was eliminated as a result.
