Philip "Phil" Dickson is a contestant from Survivor South Africa: Champions and Survivor South Africa: Return of the Outcasts.
Phil's sneaky habits caused him to spend most of his game on Champions on the bottom of the Selatan tribe. Despite his attempt to implicate Moyra Makina in his sugarcane escapades and throw her under the bus to ensure his own survival, he was unable to get into the good graces of the Rugrats Alliance, and was voted out on Day 11.
Returning eight years later in Return of the Outcasts, Phil emerged as a strategic force on the Yontau tribe, where he led the early campaigns against Tevin Naidu and Seamus Holmes. As a member of the No B.S. Alliance, Phil worked in tandem with Dino Paulo and Felix Godlo to bring about the downfall of the Breakfast Club after the merge. At the final seven, the alliance turned on itself, and Phil was forced to go on an immunity run to advance in the game. His luck finally ran out at the final four, when Marian de Vos and Shane Hattingh sided with Dino to vote him out to improve their chances of winning the Final Immunity Challenge.

Phil Dickson is a firefighter and paramedic, originally from KwaZulu-Natal but now working as a fire risk assessment manager in Johannesburg. He has two young children with his wife. Before graduating in the Top 5 of his firefighting class, Phil lived in the USA for a while, where he was part of a popular church band. He counts fishing, running, and training among his hobbies and studied game theory to prepare for Survivor SA.
He is a likeable guy with a mischievous streak. Although he is now a dedicated husband and father, he still resembles that naughty trickster he was more than a decade ago in Survivor SA: Champions.
Phil says that you cannot compare the Survivor game of Survivor SA S5 to the current version. He feels that in previous seasons, the castaways had a lot to learn about gameplay – which meant he was unprepared for the game and struggled at first to adapt.[2]Survivor South Africa[]
