The castaways would hold on to a rope with connected to a barrel holding a percentage of their body weight. The person who holds on to their barrel the longest wins.
History[]
Australia[]
The challenge debuted in Champions v Contenders (2019) as the first individual Immunity Challenge. The Soli Bula tribe would hold a rope threaded through a tile. When their barrel dropped, their tile would break. Because Daisy Richardson won a Challenge Advantage in the previous Reward Challenge, she was allowed to rest for ten minutes before starting the challenge. In the end, Shaun Hampson won the challenge.
In Brains v Brawn (2021), the challenge was modified for use as a tribal Reward Challenge where the tribes competed for a barbecue feast. Each member would hold on to a percentage of their entire tribe's bodyweight. If a contestant can no longer hold on to their barrel, they may drop out and hand their barrel to a tribemate. The tribe that goes longer without dropping any barrel wins. Despite their apparent strength disadvantage and being the first tribe to have a member drop out, the Brains managed to endure the challenge long enough for the Brawn tribe to start dropping out in quick succession. Ultimately, Gerald Youles dropped his two barrels, granting the Brains their first Reward Challenge victory.
In Heroes v Villains, the challenge was used as the second post-merge Immunity Challenge. Liz Parnov won the challenge.
United Kingdom[]
The tribal version of the challenge appeared as the inaugural Immunity Challenge of the United Kingdom revival series in Survivor U.K. (2023). Each tribe member started the challenge holding up a barrel weighing 22.5 kg. La Nena won the challenge after Caletón's Richard Kinnear McKell dropped his bucket, sending Caletón to the series' first Tribal Council.
