No Limite 1 was the first season of the Brazilian reality show No Limite, filmed in Ceará, Brazil. The premiere aired Sunday, July 23, 2000. It was the first reality show produced by a Brazilian television network.

The winner was 35-year-old Elaine de Melo, a hairdresser from São Paulo, SP. She defeating graphic producer Pipa Diniz at the final challenge to take the R$300,000 prize.

With the resounding success of Survivor: Borneo, the Brazilian television network Rede Globo decided to make his own version of Survivor.
Twelve contestants were chosen by the producers to participate in the show between July to August 2000.
They were marooned on the coast of the state of Ceará, northeastern Brazil, where they would live for 24 for days and only one will win the prize.

  • Semi-finals: At the final four, the castaways were divided into two pairs to compete in a challenge. The losing pair would be automatically eliminated, while the winning pair would be the final two.
  • Finals: The final two would compete in a final challenge, where the winner would be crowned the Sole Survivor.

^1 As they are members of the losing team, Andréa and Thiago were not eligible to vote in the second Tribal Council vote.
^2 At Day 22, a Semi-Finals challenge was held instead of a Portal vote, where Andréa & Juliana and Elaine & Pipa were paired. The pair that loses the challenge would be eliminated.

  • This season produced the first all-female final four on the Survivor franchise.
  • As this was the first experience of a reality show in Brazil, sociologists and psychologists have questioned what they saw as the lack of commitment of the show with human rights and accused the production of being "sadistic" and "irresponsible." The program was also accused of being futile for exploiting the participants' narcissism.[1]
