Emplacement: Gatineau
Nicolas was placed on the Kalooban tribe. While he seemed a bit like a fish out of water, he came out to his tribemates on the first day, which helped him gain social standing. Nicolas sometimes found himself on the chopping block, but this would never last and he was in the know about every vote before the tribe switch. On Day 16, the tribe switch took place and Nicolas became a member of the second Kalooban tribe alongside Sylvain Béland, who had been saved from elimination earlier due to a twist, Pierre-Alexandre Guillot, Justine Turpin, and three original Tiyaga tribe members. Nicolas, Pierre-Alexandre, and Justine were concerned about their numerical disadvantage against Sylvain and the original Tiyaga members, but there was some hope for them as Joël Dandurand felt that voting Kimberly Fortin out would weaken the dominating alliance on the opposing tribe. Fortunately for the tribe, they were never forced to draw any lines as they did not lose any Immunity Challenges for the remainder of the tribal phase.
When the tribes merged into Pag-Asa, Christophe Tiffet's majority alliance, which now also included Maryse Lauzon and Karine Lavigne-Fortin, was able to regroup; they recruited yet another new member into their fold, Justine. Joël was their first target for elimination, but when he won the first individual Immunity Challenge, they split the votes between Sylvain and Nicolas instead. Sylvain was voted out for a second time and, without the Pag-Asa tribe's knowledge, sent to Redemption Island. In a surprise Double Elimination, the Tiyaga Alliance immediately had another chance to vote out Joël after he lost the intervening Immunity Challenge. The alliance split their votes between Nicolas and Joël; Joël played his Hidden Immunity Idol for himself and Sango Bien-Aimé played his own for Kimberly in order to establish loyalty. As a result, Nicolas was eliminated as collateral damage.
Over the cycles, Sylvain and Nicolas bonded on Redemption Island as the pair survived the first three duels. After Sandrine Fortier arrived following her own elimination, the trio learned that a fourth duel would be taking place the following day and that it would be the last. Nicolas won this duel and returned to the main game, eliminating Sylvain and Sandrine for good and making them the fourth and fifth members of the jury, respectively.
As most of the tribe seemed to have the same short-term headspace to simply concentrate on voting Nicolas back out of the game, Karine, wanting to bolster her resume, made a misguided plan in what would turn out to be a big show rather than a big move. This involved convincing Nicolas to vote against Christophe at the next Tribal Council, while in reality, she would play her expired Hidden Immunity Idol on Nicolas to no effect and play her still active one on Christophe, effectively protecting Christophe and eliminating Nicolas again. Meanwhile, what really happened was that Nicolas ultimately worked with Kimberly and Christophe to blindside Jean-Junior Morin instead, with Karine and Justine being left out of the plan as well. With this new trio forming the majority and wanting to stick together, they all made it to the Final Three.
At the Final Tribal Council, Nicolas highlighted his journey which contrasted that of his adversaries and dropped a bombshell of information regarding his social positioning during the tribal phase. He revealed that he was aware of the duos of Sylvain and Maryse, Pierre-Alexandre and Karine, and Martine Larose Reda and Denis Potapov and that he earned the trust of one member of each of these duos while trying to split them up via elimination before the merge. With most of the jury being more impressed with Nicolas' gameplay, he won against Christophe and Kimberly in a 6-1-1 vote.
