Mutiny is a twist in which contestants on both tribes are offered an option to join the rival tribe immediately. Due to editing and the progression of the story, mutinies are sometimes offered and never referenced in the show.
Occurrences
- In Survivor: Thailand it was offered for the first time at day 13, right before the auction but nobody took the opportunity.
- In Survivor: Pearl Islands, according to Ryan Opray, an opportunity to mutiny was offered to the castaways before the immunity challenge at day 6, but since nobody took the opportunity, it was left unaired.[1]
- In Survivor: Cook Islands, the mutiny was offered to the contestants before the reward challenge at day 20. Candice Woodcock and Jonathan Penner jumped ship from the newly formed Aitutaki to Rarotonga.
- In Survivor: Tocantins, every player that received the urn with a clue on Exile Island had an option to mutiny. Again, nobody took the opportunity.
Trivia
- Candice Cody and Jonathan Penner are currently the only people to accept the opportunity to mutiny.
- Survivor: Pearl Islands is the only season where the opportunity to mutiny was present but was not aired.
- Survivor: Thailand is the only season to offer mutiny and not have a black tribe.
