Missy Griffiths Payne[1] is a contestant from Survivor: San Juan del Sur.

She is mostly remembered for being on the receiving end of Reed Kelly's heated jury speech and for not being able to participate in several individual Immunity Challenges due to a foot injury. Outside of her core alliance with Jon Misch, Jaclyn Schultz and her daughter Baylor Wilson, Missy was not very widely liked, though she was strategically active in a number of key votes. She was nearly a non-factor at Final Tribal Council, garnering only Baylor's vote and losing to Natalie Anderson 5-2-1.

Missy Payne competed on Survivor: San Juan del Sur with her daughter, Baylor Wilson. After arriving at the Hero's Arena, the women were separated onto different tribes. Missy got the blue buff, placing her on the Hunahpu tribe. When they arrived, Missy was quick to align with Jeremy Collins after he won flint for the tribe. Hunahpu would generally would win challenges of the season. However, Coyopa would finally win an Immunity Challenge on Day 10 . Missy was shocked and annoyed when she learned that Drew Christy wanted to vote out a woman because of fear of a women's alliance lead by Kelley Wentworth. The women banded together to vote out Drew and he was blindsided in a 5-2-1-1 vote.

On Day 11, at the Hero's Arena, there was a tribe switch instead of a Hero Duel. Missy was transferred to Coyopa and was reunited with Baylor. At the Coyopa camp, Missy cooked as much rice as she usually had at Hunahpu. This annoyed Dale Wentworth because Coyopa had carefully rationed their rice. The new Coyopa was destroyed at the Immunity Challenge. Missy and Baylor pleaded with Jaclyn Schultz and Jon Misch to vote out Dale and Kelley, sighting them as sneaky. The young couple sided with them and planned a split vote as a failsafe in case of the Hidden Immunity Idol. Kelley was the one voted out in a 3-2-2 vote. At the next Hero's Duel, Baylor was chosen to compete against Hunahpu's Reed Kelly for a Survivor barbecue. However, Baylor lost and was sent to Exile Island. At the Immunity Challenge, Coyopa was initially leading. However, Jon and Missy botched the puzzle, allowing for Hunahpu to win. Jon told his alliance that Dale found an Hidden Immunity Idol. The alliance agreed to a split vote between Dale and Keith. Although Missy felt bad for voting against Keith, she preferred for him to go over her or Baylor. At Tribal Council, Dale was voted out in a 3-2-1 vote, with Dale voting against Missy.

After Tribal Council, Keith was confused when he was nearly voted out. Missy and Baylor explained to Keith on why they voted against him. However, Keith decided to sever ties with the women and flip back to his son, Wes. On Day 16, The tribes got Tree Mail that heavily implied that the merge was coming soon. This was the case and the tribes celebrated the merger with a feast. Missy and Baylor quickly joined Jeremy and Natalie AndersonJosh Canfield tried to talk Baylor into joining an alliance with him. However, Baylor was unwilling to commit to Josh. At the Immunity Challenge, Keith won the challenge over Wes. After the challenge, Julie McGee felt like quitting after feeling isolated because of keeping trail mix for herself. Missy tried to convince Julie to stay. However, the way Missy presented her argument made Julie realize that she was just an extra vote and prompted her to quit the game.

Missy was annoyed with Julie for quitting the game. At the next Reward Challenge, the castaways was divided into two teams via Schoolyard Pick. Missy was left unpicked and made ineligible for the reward. At camp, Missy, like her daughter and Jaclyn, grew annoyed with Alec Christy and Wes' farting and deemed the men chauvinist. Missy was also irritated with Keith when he said Baylor should do more at camp. At the Immunity Challenge, Missy did well but got a wrong answer and was eliminated with Keith. Jeremy would win immunity over the primary target Josh. Josh was voted out in a 6-5 vote over Baylor after Jaclyn convinced Jon to flip on the men's alliance.

At the Reward Challenge, the castaways was divided into two teams had and faced off in one on one matches. Missy faced off against Baylor twice and lost both times, with the second time costing her team the challenge. After the challenge, Wes asked Missy to tell him when he or his father was going to leave. Missy was proud of Baylor when she won individual immunity. Missy also learned from Reed that Keith must have the Hidden Immunity Idol when the former rummaged through the latter's bag and found a piece of parchment with instructions on how to use the idol. Missy was surprised that Keith of all people had the idol, but Reed's admission made her realize that he was scrambling. Missy wanted to split the votes between Reed and Keith. Jon told Missy that he had the idol from Exile. However, he also wanted to vote Jeremy out because of an argument between them. Although Missy wasn't sure, she join Jon in voting him out. Jeremy was blindsided in a 5-3-2 vote.

Natalie was shocked by Jeremy's elimination and said to Missy, "What the f***". After Tribal Council, the Fab Five alliance counsels Natalie affirming she is still in the alliance. At the next Reward Challenge, Missy was teamed with Baylor, Natalie, and Wes. Despite her team losing the challenge, Missy was allowed to go the reward, a trip to local village to deliver baseball toys because of Reed giving up his reward to her. At the village, Missy was touched by the children and her maternal instincts took over. At the Immunity Challenge, Missy was the 2nd person to drop. The intended target, Reed, won immunity, so the alliance wanted to split the votes between Keith and Wes, instead. However, they anticipated this and wanted to take advantage of this to vote out Jon. However, Jon used his idol, negating all votes against him. As Keith also used his idol, Wes was the one eliminated as he was the only one with votes that counted.

The next Reward Challenge was the three chops challenge, using questions from facts of the castaways who made the merge. The Fab Five quickly eliminated Reed, Keith, and Alec from the game. However, the remaining competitors in the challenge started talk about who should be next to get chopped from the challenge. Jeff Probst noticed this and when it confirmed that the remaining players were going to throw the challenge for who they wanted to win, he declared the challenge over and asked for a name. Missy was declared the winner when Natalie said her name. Jon volunteered to go to Exile Island. Missy selected Baylor and Natalie to join her to the trip to the Horseback Ranch. While not surprised, Jaclyn was upset as she felt she was getting the short end of the stick when Jon let himself get exiled. Missy gott angry with Reed when he called Baylor a brat after she said he liked everyone and the former two started arguing. While on reward, Natalie revealed that she found the Hidden Immunity Idol. Missy was happy that Natalie has the idol but was worried about Jaclyn flipping to the men's alliance. Keith would win immunity and Reed would be unanimously voted out. Reed voted against Missy at Tribal Council because of their conflict.

At the next Reward Challenge, Missy was the second person to drop out. Natalie would win the challenge over Jaclyn and chose Jaclyn and Jon to join her for the breakfast in bed reward at camp. Missy, Baylor and Keith didn't want to watch food being eaten so they did camp chores instead. Unbeknownst to Missy, Natalie was asking Baylor to vote out Jon and not tell Missy. However, Jon won immunity and unknowing foiled Natalie's blindside plot. Jon wanted to split the vote between Alec and Keith, with the latter getting voted out. However at Tribal Council, Jaclyn, Jon, and Missy were confused when Alec got his torch snuffed instead.

After Tribal Council, it was learned that Natalie voted against Alec instead of Keith like she was supposed to. Natalie claimed that this was a mistake when she really did this on purpose. At the Reward Challenge, Missy was teamed up with Jon and Missy to compete for a trip to a local spa. Missy's team won but she injured her ankle during the challenge. Jon gave up his reward to Baylor to build trust in his alliance. The women and Keith enjoyed the spa and its luxuries. At the Immunity Challenge, the medical team examined Missy's ankle. While the doctor believed that Missy's injury was a bad sprain or fracture, it couldn't be determine until she got an x-ray. Missy was devastated at first as the thought of being medically evacuated. Fortunately, the injury wasn't life threatening and Missy chose to stay. However, Missy's injury prevented her from competing in the next Immunity Challenge. Natalie won individual immunity over Jon. Baylor later came to her mom asking her to vote against Jon, pleading for her to make a move. Missy was unwilling to vote against Jon because she promised him that she wasn't voting against him. However when the vote came, Missy voted against Jaclyn and the vote was tied 2-2-2. Missy again voted Jaclyn at the revote, but Jon was voted out 2-1-0.

Baylor thought it was cool that both she and Missy could make it to the end together. Missy agreed and wanted to go to the Final Three with Natalie. However, Missy was worried about her ankle preventing from competing in challenges. This turned out to be the case for the next Reward Challenge. Keith would win the challenge, an advantage for the final five Immunity Challenge and the right to send someone to exile. The advantage would help Keith win his third immunity of the season. At Tribal Council, Missy voted against Jaclyn. However, Natalie decided to use her idol on Jaclyn, negating Missy's vote and resulting in Baylor's elimination. Despite eliminating Baylor, Missy was not angry with Natalie and was glad she didn't have to vote against her daughter. At the Final Immunity Challenge, Missy was once again unable to compete. Jaclyn was able to pull a come-from-behind victory to win the final immunity. Missy and Jaclyn toyed with voting out Natalie, but when the votes were read, Keith was voted out 3-1 with Missy receiving Keith's vote due to her status as a jury threat.

At Final Tribal Council, Missy's argument for why she was deserving was that she was the mom of the tribe who dictated the boot order and she was fiercely loyal to her alliance. However, Reed deconstructed her argument in his "Wicked Stepmother" speech. In the end, only Baylor voted for her as Natalie won the title of Sole Survivor in a 5-2-1 vote.
