Ahead of his time strategically, Maxime formed an alliance with himself alongside Florence Delbarre Reuter and Virginie Jarry at its core and Ella Gbezan and Laurent Maistret in its outer circle. This alliance blindsided their tribemates at the Mambok tribe's first and second Tribal Councils by tricking Catherine Barnier into joining them in voting out Lisa Legouverneur and then successfully turning on Catherine a few days later. The Mambok tribe remained safe throughout the remainder of the tribal phase and, after Denis revealed that each tribe had a Hidden Immunity Necklace hidden at camp, Maxime fabricated a fake Hidden Immunity Necklace in order to trick those in the minority into thinking that the real one had already been found. Towards the end of the tribal phase, Maxime's game went downhill as he started having tensions with his allies and he confessed to outsiders Olivier Moenaert and Gérard Urdampilleta that his Hidden Immunity Necklace was fake. Ambassadors Olivier and Teheiura Teahui eliminated Maxime just before the merge after Olivier threw him under the bus for his duplicity.

- Maxime, alongside Caroline Matteucci and Ella Gbezan are the first Koh-Lanta contestants to not be residing in France at the time of filming; Caroline is from Switzerland, while Ella and Maxime are from Belgium.
