Martin est le doyen de cette première saison et il est reconnu pour avoir la solution à tout. Il est celui qui trouvera le moyen de faire fonctionner les choses ou de l'inventer si ça n'existe pas. D'ailleurs, ses talents de créateur, d'innovateur et de concepteur l'ont amené à être vendeur et ensuite actionnaire d'une compagnie de camions blindés. Selon lui, ses habiletés de vendeur l'aident à entrer en contact avec les gens et ce sera utile pour créer des alliances rapidement. Comme talents cachés, Martin est capable d'allumer un feu en 30 secondes et de pêcher au harpon, mais il songe à conserver ses aptitudes pour lui-même et regarder les gens faire. Sa stratégie est claire et il compte la mettre en oeuvre à la seconde où il met les pieds sur l'île.[1]
Survivor Québec[]
Martin was placed on the Kalooban tribe. A big fan of the game, Martin taught his tribemates how to handle coconuts, but he also formed an alliance quickly with Sylvain Béland and Karine Lavigne-Fortin. Martin insisted to them that they needed to expand their alliance to include six people in order to maintain a majority, to which Sylvain and Karine initially seemed receptive.
At the first Immunity Challenge, Vicky Côté Pierre and Martin were assigned to do the puzzle at the end, but they failed to clinch the victory for their tribe against the puzzle makers on the Tiyaga tribe. Keeping in mind that Vicky wasn't necessarily someone he was seeking to be a part of his big alliance anyway, Martin mentioned Vicky's name to different people while arguing that Vicky was impeding on the progress he was making at the puzzle section. While people did consider Vicky, what Martin didn't know was that he was on the chopping block himself as his tribemates felt that he was playing too hard and that he was only talking to people about strategy. Additionally, Justine Turpin emerged as a possibility for elimination due to seeming negative and out of her element. At Tribal Council, Martin made the most sense for everyone else to vote out, resulting in his unanimous elimination and marking the first ever elimination in Survivor Québec.
