As he was the youngest male, Marius became the captain of the Aopoh tribe and was able to select his tribemates. The Aopoh tribe got off to a great start, winning the first four challenges against the rival Karwaï tribe. In spite of the social cohesion within the Aopoh tribe and the fact that its members had not faced the stress of Tribal Council by that point, Marius simply disliked the survival aspect of the game. Having had enough and revealing to his tribemates that he was not happy, Marius quit the game on Day 6 in spite of his tribemates' and Denis Brogniart's warnings that he would regret his decision later on.

- Marius is the first Koh-Lanta contestant to quit whose starting tribe colour was red. He is one of only two whose starting tribes were not yellow, the other being Franck Macia from Le Totem Maudit.
