Tras su polémico pasado por La isla de las tentaciones, donde rompió su relación sentimental de año y medio con Laura Casabela, Mario González viaja a Honduras para ponerse a prueba.
Cuenta con una ventaja, ya que participará junto a Claudia Martínez en el concurso, la mujer con la que mantiene un noviazgo desde hace casi un año. Un amor que nació en medio de la polémica y que ha generado muchos titulares.[1]

Mario entered the island as the boyfriend of fellow contestant Claudia Martínez, and, having a four year old boy together, Claudia had to see if she was pregnant. Hoping for a positive test, when the test came back negative Mario comforted his girlfriend.[2]
Later on Mario developed a habit of pocketing pieces of uneaten food from reward challenges to eat later, such as stuffing a piece of pizza in his swimming trunks pocket. After being captured on camera swiping an extra churro, he was punished by not being allowed to take part in the reward. Claudia attempted to try to take the punishment for him, but host Laura Madrileño refused.[3]
Mario gained the ire of his fellow tribemates for Claudia's perceived reliance on him throughout the game, with former contestant Marta Peñate suggesting that his presence stopped Claudia from engaging with other castaways.[4] After the repesca was announced, allowing one removed or exiled castaway to return to the game, Mario turned it down, saying it didn't feel right for him to take it when he would have been on a different tribe to Claudia. He also suggested that Claudia became more anxious at night, and he felt that it would be unfair to leave her to feel lonely without him.[5] When Claudia learnt of his decision, she was visibly surprised and saddened.
Mario was voted out on Day 42. Soon after, Claudia was evacuated by medics, and she too was voted out the next week.[6]
