Marieta arrived as a replacement for Zayra Gutiérrez, who was forced to leave the game due to illness, and was put with Laura Matamoros and host Laura Madrueño on Exile Island. However, Kiko Jiménez suddenly appeared, who wasn't supposed to know of Marieta being put into the game. As such, host Jorge Javier Vázquez had to simply ask Marieta to play the game as though she had not met Kiko on the island. The situation also provided an important moment for Kiko and Laura, who had previously had a frosty relation on the island, yet became friends once more during the debacle of Marieta's entry, provoking applause from the audience.[1]
Upon arriving, Marieta also attracted attention from the male members of the tribe, with single Rubén Torres appearing to be especially interested. Gorka Ibarguren, however, proved to be Marieta's pick.[2]
Gorka and Marieta's kiss proved to be ammunition against them for Kiko Jiménez once Gorka regretted it and dumped her, saying that he was unreliable and wasn't to be trusted, and that she was too easily swayed. Kiko's outburst on 12 May became a focal point of the later pre-merge game.
