Liana Wallace is a contestant from Survivor 41.
Liana began the season on the Yase tribe, where she found safety in a women's alliance and entered a budding rivalry with Xander Hastings. At the summit, Liana forged a game-defining bond with Shan Smith which, after the merge, motivated her to form a final-four alliance with the other Black contestants. However, despite her affiliation with the majority alliance, Liana's game was quickly beset by misfortune, including infamously misplaying her Knowledge is Power advantage and losing Shan at the final eight. As her alliance imploded, her fate was sealed at the following Tribal Council as she was voted out in 7th place.

Age: 20
Hometown: Evanston, Illinois
Current Residence: Washington, D.C.
Occupation: College student
Hobbies: Dancing, running, writing poetry
Three Words to Describe You: Adventurous, loving, outspoken
Pet Peeves: I hate when people chew with their mouth open.
What is the accomplishment you are most proud of? I am most proud of being invited to perform my spoken word for Congressman John Lewis during a fundraiser for a non-profit organization in my community.
What is something we would never know from looking at you? Looking at me you would never know that I spent a portion of my childhood in Tokyo and Singapore.
Who is your hero and why? My hero is Misty Copeland, the first female African-American dancer to be promoted to a principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre. I see Misty Copeland as a hero because she faced incredible odds growing up in terms of her home life, but she also stayed committed to her craft and her love of ballet to get where she is today. In staying committed mentally and emotionally to the idea that she could, in fact, be a professional ballet dancer even though she didn't fit the archetype of a white ballerina, she broke barriers for future Black ballet dancers who had dreams that always seemed unattainable.
Which past Survivor will you play the game most like? I would hope to play the game most like Tony Vlachos, except not have other people know that. Tony was a player that minimized risks to the best of his ability. He would always read the social scene and crunch numbers, but if he felt like his game was on the line, he would find some way to ensure his safety, whether it was finding an idol or slickly attempting to overhear other players' conversations. Although I really hated when Tony did that as a viewer, I think his type of game play is one that I would try to emulate, but in a way that had more authentic relationships. In all honesty, I would hope to be a type of hybrid between Tony and Elaine. I would have Tony's game play skills and Elaine's people skills.
Why do you believe you can win Survivor? I believe I can be the final Survivor because too often, women of color are overlooked and undervalued. Whether that's in my business classes dominated by white men who feel entitled to the space they take up or in future workplaces, it is women of color who have nurtured and cared for others throughout history. If there was ever a person who was strong enough mentally, physically and emotionally to take on a game full of odds — a woman of color, a woman like me and the women I come from would be the one to do it.[2]
Survivor[]
Liana began the game as a member of Yase, where she quickly aligned with Tiffany Seely and Evvie Jagoda against the tribe's men. However, her alliance's decision on Day 5 to vote out David Voce over Xander Hastings, despite the latter having a dormant Hidden Immunity Idol and Extra Vote, particularly frustrated Liana, who feared the threat that Xander would pose if he made the merge.
On Day 11, Yase sent Liana on a journey alongside Shan Smith of Ua. There, the two women bonded over their shared backgrounds and expressed interest in working with each other at the merge. At the end of the summit, Shan allowed Liana to claim the Knowledge is Power advantage, granting her the ability to take any player's idol or advantage at Tribal Council.
Once the three tribes merged into Viakana, Liana immediately reconnected with Shan. The two women also formed a bond with Danny McCray and Deshawn Radden of Luvu, forming an alliance of all the remaining African-American players in the game. It soon became apparent to her former Yase allies however, that Liana had defected to a new alliance and they attempted to strategize around her Knowledge is Power Advantage (which Liana had accidentally revealed to Tiffany). Believing that Xander would play his idol for Evvie, Liana used her advantage at the Day 14 Tribal Council to try and take the idol for herself. However, Xander had given his idol to Tiffany ahead of Tribal Council, nullifying Liana's advantage. Though her plan failed, Liana's alliance still succeeded in voting out thier secondary target; Sydney Segal.
As the numbers dwindled, Liana's alliance remained dominant, voting out her former allies Tiffany and Evvie. However, tensions soon emerged as Shan and Deshawn began to contemplate targeting one another, after Liana revealed to Shan that Deshawn planned to vote out her ally Ricard Foyé. This friction ultimately led to Danny and Deshawn choosing to help the rest of the tribe in splitting the vote between Liana and Shan on Day 19, eliminating the latter on the revote.
Following Shan's blindside, Liana was relegated to the minority of the tribe, after Ricard rallied the outsiders into a new alliance, though both Danny and Deshawn remained committed to her. Though the new majority alliance wanted to target Deshawn ahead of the Day 21 Tribal Council, he won immunity as apart of the Do or Die twist. With Danny also immune from the Immunity Challenge, Liana was the only member of her alliance left vulnerable, and she was voted out 5-3, becoming the fifth member of the jury.
At the Final Tribal Council, Liana closed the proceedings by jokingly asking Xander once again if he had an idol. Despite no longer carrying a rivalry with him, Liana joined the majority of the jury in voting for Erika Casupanan to be the Sole Survivor, who would win in a 7-1-0 vote.

Notes: ^1 The unchosen sit-out from the challenge (Erika) was exiled. There, she was given an hourglass which she may choose to break to strip the winning team of their immunity, transferring it to the losing team and herself. Erika broke the hourglass and Liana was given immunity.
^2 The challenge was played for team reward and individual immunity, with the last person standing winning reward for their team. Liana did not win immunity, but was on the team that won the reward. |
