The tribes will race down a ramp and go through an obstacle course where they will make their way to a large wooden crate, which contains a ladder. They may choose to open the crate by unlocking it with keys or untying its knots. Once they have freed their ladder, they must maneuver their ladder through a series of obstacles. Thereafter, one member will climb the ladder to assist in a final task; the first tribe to complete the course wins.
History[]
The challenge debuted in Survivor: Worlds Apart as the first Immunity Challenge. After getting their ladder to the end of the obstacle course, one tribe member would climb it to choose one of three puzzles to complete: a five-piece tangram puzzle, a ten-piece tree puzzle, or a 50-piece jigsaw puzzle. Masaya lost the challenge and was sent to Tribal Council.
In Survivor South Africa: Return of the Outcasts, the challenge appeared as the first tribal Immunity Challenge. The tribes had to race out to unlock a crate of puzzle pieces with which they would build a staircase. In the end, instead of building a puzzle, one member would climb the ladder to light a torch in the wok. Yontau blasted ahead as Meryl Szolkeiwicz and Chappies Chapman struggled for Masu on the first stage of the challenge. Ultimately, Tevin Naidu lit Yontau's torch first, winning immunity and sending Masu to Tribal Council.
