La Isla: Desafío en Turquía, also known as La Isla 2023, is the seventh season of La Isla.

The season concluded with Maite Olalde defeating Andrés Tejeda in the Grand Final Battle to become the first female winner in 5 seasons and 10 years.

Production

After a six-year hiatus, Alejandro Lukini confirmed on July 4, 2023 that TV Azteca had greenlit the seventh season of La Isla, along with his return as a host. He also revealed Turkey as the location for the new season. This time, the show would be aired on Azteca Uno, unlike the previous seasons, which aired on the Azteca 7 network of the same company.

On July 12, digital casting applications were opened, and dates were announced for in-person castings in three cities in Mexico. A month later, on August 12, it was revealed that the official start date of the season would be August 28, 2023, occupying the airtime of the most recent season of Survivor México. Starting on August 14, the cast was slowly revealed.

Último Desafío

Through La Isla's TikTok account, every eliminated contestant would have a chance to win MXN$10,000 by completing a challenge, reminiscent to the segment of "La Isla te Reta" from past seasons. In addition, if the eliminated contestant wins the challenge, a TikTok follower previously selected would also receive the same amount of money.

Twists/Changes

• Different Filming Locations: Each cycle, the filming location would change to a different place in Turkey, changing the location of the beaches, challenges, and Trials. The respective features and conditions of High Beach, Medium Beach, and Low Beach would also change according to the location.
  • Cycle 1: Cappadocia.
  • Cycle 2: Artvin.
  • Cycle 3: Mardin.
  • Cycle 4: Mersin.
  • Cycle 5: Antalya.
  • Cycle 6: Isparta.
  • Cycle 7: İzmir.
  • Cycle 8: Aydın.
  • Cycle 9: Çanakkale.
  • Cycle 10: Istanbul.
• Celebrities vs. Strangers: Returning to the format of the first three seasons of La Isla, the cast featured twelve celebrities and six non-famous contestants:
  • The six strangers formed the Desconocidos tribe.
  • Meanwhile, the celebrities were divided into two tribes based on their perceived personalities in their lives:
    • The Rebeldes tribe was made up of those seen as rebels.
    • The Intensos tribe was composed of people with intense personalities.
• The First Mission: As the season's opening challenge, the tribes would have to complete a mission in Cappadocia, which would consist of making a traditional clay pot and then listening to the story behind the mystery of the fairy chimneys. The first tribe to reach the starting point and correctly answer a question related to the fairy chimneys would receive an advantage in the first Territorial Challenge.
• New Challenge Types: In addition to the Territorial Challenge and the Immunity Challenge, contestants would compete in a new series of challenge types during each cycle.
  • Captaincy Challenge: Each tribe must choose two contestants through a voting process to compete against each other in a challenge. In the event of a tie vote, more than two tribe members may compete in the challenge. The winner of each tribe obtains the Captain's Bracelet and becomes the tribe's captain for the cycle. The tribe captains would have benefits that could change the course of the game.
  • Captains' Battle: Starting in Cycle 4, each tribe's captain is appointed by vote. The captains face each other in a challenge, with the winner getting the Advantage Symbol, which grants their tribe an advantage in one challenge of their choice in the same cycle.
  • Conquest Challenge: A certain number of members of each tribe compete to win the city's Emblem of the current cycle for their tribe. The two tribes with the most Emblems before the tribe switch in Cycle 6 would remain intact, keeping their name and color. Additionally, the first-place tribe would gain a strategic advantage. Conversely, the tribe with the fewest Emblems would be dissolved and its members would be absorbed into the two winning tribes.
  • Embassy Challenge: Replacing the Conquest Challenges from Cycle 6 onwards, the tribes compete to win the right to have a member of their tribe as an ambassador at the rival tribe's Trial.
  • Adventure Challenge: Similar to a Reward Challenge, the tribes compete to win the chance to live a traditional experience of the place where they are located.
  • Power Challenge: The members of each tribe compete against each other individually to win the Power Bracelet, which gives the winners of the challenge an Extra Vote at the next Trial.
  • Punishment Challenge: The tribes compete to be safe from a punishment that varies in each cycle. From Cycle 1 to Cycle 5, the winning tribe's captain decides which losing tribe will send two members and which will send one member to face the punishment, with the losing tribes' captains choosing who will be the punished from their tribes. From Cycle 6 onwards, the winning tribe's captain chooses one member of the losing tribe to be punished, while the losing tribe's captain punishes one or two more members of their own tribe.
  • Resilience Challenge: From Cycle 1 to Cycle 5, the losing tribes' captains of the Immunity Challenge must choose the least valuable member of their tribe to compete in a challenge. The winner of the challenge obtains a benefit for their tribe, while the loser gets a penalty that can be individual or tribal.
  • Honor Challenge: Replacing Final Challenges from past seasons, the losing tribes of the Immunity Challenge compete to determine the number of members each tribe will nominate at the Trial. The winning tribe will nominate only one member, while the losing tribe will nominate two members. This challenge would no longer occur after the absorption of a tribe in Cycle 6.
  • Territory Defense Challenge: Starting in Cycle 7, the members of each tribe compete against each other individually to temporarily alter the outcome of the Territorial Challenge. The two winners from the tribe established at Low Beach will move to High Beach. Meanwhile, the two winners from the tribe established at High Beach, in addition to remaining at their beach, must each send one member of their tribe to Low Beach. The castaways changing beaches will return to their original beach after the third Immunity Challenge of the cycle.
  • Missions: Starting in Cycle 6, the tribes select a predetermined number of members to compete in a cultural challenge related to the place where they are currently located. The winning castaways of the mission get a benefit for their tribe, while the losing castaways' tribe will have one member—chosen either before or after the challenge—lose their vote at the next Trial.
  • Last Battle: Equivalent to the Deathly Duels of previous seasons, the nominees of the cycle face a challenge in which the loser is eliminated. From Cycle 1 to Cycle 5, each nominee will be assisted in the challenge by a tribe mate of the opposite gender, chosen by their tribe's captain. The nominees may decide to dispense with their assistants before or during the challenge.
• Several Immunity Challenges: In Cycle 6, two Immunity Challenges were performed, the losing tribe of the first challenge would nominate two members at the Trial, while the losing tribe of the second challenge would nominate one member. As of Cycle 7, there would be three Immunity Challenges per cycle, and the tribes would have to nominate one member at the Trial for each Immunity Challenge lost.
• Trial Mechanics: The losing tribes' castaways of the Immunity Challenge(s) vote to nominate a specific number of players, determined by the Honor Challenge's result and, from Cycle 6 onwards, by the outcome of the different Immunity Challenges. The castaway(s) with the highest number of votes will be nominated and will have to partake in the Last Battle.
  • Ambassadors: From Cycle 1 to Cycle 5, the winning tribe's captain of the Immunity Challenge would attend the losing tribes' Trial as an ambassador, and would have two votes to cast against any member from either tribe. Starting in Cycle 6, the winning tribe of the Embassy Challenge would choose one of its members to act as an ambassador at the rival tribe's Trial and verbally cast three votes against any of its members, however, this would only be possible if the rival tribe loses at least one of the Immunity Challenges and thus attends the Trial.
  • Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie in the number of votes to nominate a castaway, it will be up to the tribe captain to decide which of the castaways involved in the tie will be nominated to the Last Battle.
• Replacement: Due to Natalia Valenzuela getting evacuated early in the competition, Gala Montes entered the game on Day 8 to replace her.
• Additional Castaways: On Day 20, Adrián Rubio entered the game and joined the Intensos tribe as a reinforcement. It was also announced that the Rebeldes tribe would soon receive a reinforcement, which turned out to be Sofía Campomanes, who became part of the tribe on Day 22.
• Tribe Absorption: On Day 31, Intensos—as the tribe with the fewest Emblems won—was dissolved, and its remaining members were absorbed by the other two tribes through a Schoolyard Pick. The Desconocidos tribe, having accumulated the most Emblems, would initiate the Schoolyard Pick.
• Merge: The merge occurred with ten players remaining.
