Before meeting with Denis Brogniart, two castaways would be required to stay at the marooning location. Cassandre Girard and Steve Best volunteered to stay behind. After meeting with Denis Brogniart, the youngest man, Marius Torterat, and youngest woman, Wendy Gervois, would divide the 18 castaways into two tribes of nine.

Due to Charlie Vincent-Mussard quitting before the first Tribal Council, Laureen Hugel joined the Karwaï tribe at Tribal Council to replace her.

Challenge: Getting Tanked
One member of each team must go to a platform to collect water and then pass this water through 5 gutters to a bucket. The team that has a fuller bucket than the other wins the event.
