Koh-Lanta: Nicoya is the second season of Koh-Lanta. This season took place in Costa Rica on the island of Nicoya, and was broadcast on TF1 from June 28, 2002 to September 13, 2002, airing on Saturdays and Sundays at 6:55 p.m.

Amel Fatnassi defeated Nicolas Roy in a 5-2 jury vote to become the Sole Survivor. To date, this season has produced three returning players (Amel Fatnassi, Maud Garnier and Nicolas Roy) for future seasons.

Production

After the success of Les Aventuriers, the French television network TF1 decided to make a second season with a new host, Denis Brogniart. Sixteen contestants were chosen by the producers to take part. They were marooned on the coast of Nicoya in Costa Rica for 40 days.

Twists/Changes

• Tribe Composition: The sixteen castaways were divided into two tribes of eight.
• Replacement: After a castaway got evacuated, the previously eliminated player returned to the game in their place.
• Tribe Switch: On Day 14, instead of an expected Reward Challenge, the tribes were informed to select one representative, without knowing why. The two representatives would be revealed to be switching tribes.
• Merge: The merged tribe was composed of ten members.
• Final Four Elimination: At the final four, the remaining castaways compete in the Fallen Comrades challenge, and the castaway with the fewest right answers is eliminated from the game.
