Survivor: Redemption Island

With her muscular physique, Julie was seen as the most physically able female of the Zapatera tribe. With her, plus having five of their nine members being male (as opposed to the rival Ometepe tribe, which had more females), Zapatera flourished early, winning the first two Immunity Challenges.

But despite this, Zapatera was divided into two competing alliances: one consisted of Julie, Mike Chiesl, Steve Wright, Ralph Kiser, David Murphy, and Sarita White; while the other was comprised of notorious Survivor villain Russell Hantz, Stephanie Valencia, and Krista Klumpp. The six-person alliance felt that Russell's presence was toxic, and he must be disposed immediately. With this, five members of the alliance conspired to throw the next Immunity Challenge so they would get the chance to eliminate Russell. When Julie was approached about the plan, Julie was unsure. Julie, a woman who believed in karma, felt that the move will hurt them in the long run. But at the Immunity Challenge, she decided to go through the plan anyway, deliberately sending her tribe to their first Tribal Council.

Assuming that there was a Hidden Immunity Idol at their camp, the six-person pact decided to split their votes, in the event that Russell did possess an Idol (unknown to them, alliance partner Ralph already found it). That afternoon, Russell went to Julie to try to flip her vote and join his alliance (with Russell promising to keep her longer in the game), speculating that the majority alliance threw the challenge just to get rid of him. Julie was tempted by Russell's offer but at Tribal Council, Julie did not budge, and the vote went as planned, with a three-way tie between Russell, Ralph, and Stephanie. With five of the six-person alliance eligible for the re-vote (with Julie included), Russell was voted out, sending him to Redemption Island, and was eventually defeated by its current inhabitant, Matt Elrod at the duel.

After winning one more Immunity Challenge, Zapatera would suffer a series of challenge losses, with Julie and the rest of the alliance disposing the remaining members of Russell's alliance. After losing their third consecutive Immunity Challenge, the once-strong alliance had to turn on each other. And with no common enemy, the alliance was torn between Sarita who was weak in challenges, but was nonetheless loyal to the alliance, and David, who was perceived to be better at challenges, but was deemed arrogant and untrustworthy. In the end, Julie joined Steve, Mike, and David in voting Sarita out.

In the final pre-merge duel of the game, which was a re-entrance duel, Julie said a lot of words of encouragement to Sarita in hopes that Sarita would win the duel, but Sarita would be eliminated upon losing the duel to Matt, which worried her and the other Zapatera members since they would now be merging with 5 players from Zapatera and 7 from Ometepe. Natalie Tenerelli beat out Mike at the first Individual Immunity Challenge. Julie along with the rest of Zapatera decided to vote off Grant Mattos, who they viewed as a threat and Rob Mariano's closest ally. They also hoped that Mike's attempts to get Matt and Andrea Boehlke to flip would by sufficient. But unfortunately, they didn't and Matt, who was unsure about what alliance to join, was blindsided by a 6-5-1 vote, which drew a line between Ometepe and Zapatera.

Mike and David would be the first ones voted off of the former Zapatera members. Julie later hid Phillip's shorts to make Phillip mad as a chance to hopefully get 2 or more Ometepe members to vote off Phillip. But it would not work and when Julie confessed what she did at Tribal Council, she was the one voted off 6-3 and when before heading to Redemption Island, she told Phillip he would never find his shorts. Julie would join Matt and Mike on Redemption Island. In the duel that followed, Julie would eventually lose, finishing the game in 11th place and becoming the 2nd member of the jury.

At the Final Tribal Council, Julie started by stating that none of the finalists played a respectable game. She told Natalie her parents would be proud of her for winning the first Individual Immunity Challenge, but disappointed in the fact that she let herself get used by Rob in that way. Julie wanted to know from Rob where was the line in leaving his family behind for the game. Rob said this would be his last season. Julie told him to raise his girls to be strong women, to prevent them from being manipulated like he did to Natalie. Julie told Phillip the only reason that he was there is because no one respected him. Then she asked Phillip what would his teenage son would think of him. Feeling like she was trying to take away his work ethic and angered that she question his parenting skills, Phillip told Julie "to hell with you." In the end, Julie, along with the rest of the jury (except for Ralph) voted for Rob to win while Ralph voted for Phillip.

    • On the contrary, she was the lowest placing female of Murlonio.
    • She was the only female member of Zapatera to make the merge.
