Juan Carlos was part of the Pudientes tribe. He was the strongest of his tribe, so he helped his tribe to won some challenges. This caused him to be seen as a physical threat several times.

At the ninth Trial, the Banda tribe chose to nominate him for being a physical threat. Juan Carlos won the duel and returned to the game.

At the tenth Trial, the Banda tribe chose to nominate him again. Juan Carlos decided the other nominee, because the past vote was a tie. He won the duel and returned to the game.

At the merge, he performed well in the challenges and remained safe for four weeks. It was until the fifth Immunity Challenge in which he faced against Fernanda de la Mora to not to be last place, however, Fernanda had better marksmanship and won. Juan Carlos went to the Deathly Duel, where he lost by his bad marksmanship and was eliminated.
