Post-Survivor[]
- In September 2002, as part of a 40-person expedition, Jonny and fellow Survivor: Panama castaway John Dalzell were attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support when extremely harsh weather struck the group on the third day of the ascent, killing three of the group. John and Jonny were two of only nine members to reach the top on Day 5 of the ascent. Jonny said it was "horrendous and very sad". Guides stated it was the worst weather they had seen on the mountain in a decade. Jonny dedicated his climb to his mother, Daphne, who passed away from cancer in 1989 following a 5-year battle, aged 36.[1]
