Jean-Philippe est un Normand au caractère bien trempé. Sûr de lui, il ne laisse personne indifférent. Il a monté son entreprise dans le bâtiment. Boulimique de travail, Jean-Philippe est fier de sa réussite. Avide de reconnaissance, s'il participe à Koh-Lanta, c'est évidemment pour gagner. Il veut également être le héros de ses 2 fils adorés.

Alexandra Élizé and Jean-Philippe were the female and male winners of the opening challenge. In consequence, they became the captains of the Nacpan and Ilog tribes, respectively, and the pair were able to select the captain of the third tribe, Turung. Alexandra and Jean-Philippe selected Céline Dufrenoy as they correctly assessed that she would be weaker in challenges and a poor captain. Though the Nacpan tribe performed the best out of the three tribes overall in challenges, Jean-Philippe was seen as a strong link by his tribemates and he had also integrated himself into a safe spot socially as the Ilog tribe respected him as their captain.

When the tribe dissolution occurred, Jean-Philippe was selected to be a member of the new Cadlao tribe by its captain, Louana Roy. With the five original Ilog tribe members outnumbering the four original Nacpan tribe members, the former were able to vote out Samira Aït-Brahim with the help of Jean-Charles Chatelus at the Cadlao tribe's first Tribal Council. In the fifth cycle, Jean-Philippe was temporarily evacuated from the game after his foot became swollen. Unfortunately for Jean-Philippe, his evacuation became permanent on Day 16 as his foot's condition was deemed too serious for him to return to the game at that time. His unorthodox elimination allowed for Stéphanie Tribot to return to the game in his place.
