Profile

Retrieved from CBS.com

Born and raised in Granite City, Ill., Janet Koth has lived her entire life in the St. Louis area. In 1979, she graduated from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, also in St. Louis. A registered nurse and former sales representative, Koth now divides her time between family, motivational presentations and tasks as an independent travel consultant. She is also planning to become certified in the field of hypnosis.

Koth's favorite hobbies are drama, writing, camping and hiking. She describes herself as energetic, creative and a risk-taker. If she could hold any political office, she'd like to be President of the United States because of her determination to be in control and to influence people. She is most proud of the fact that she and her husband, Kurt, were among the first American families to successfully adopt from a Russian orphanage. If she wins the $1 million, she'll treat her family and parents to an extravagant Hawaiian vacation.

Koth currently resides in Manchester, Mo., with her husband and two girls, Kate and Natalie, along with three Siamese cats. Her birth date is November 18, 1955.[2]

Survivor: The Amazon

Janet began the game on the all-female Jaburu tribe. At the start of the game, the younger women, Heidi Strobel, Jenna Morasca, and Shawna Mitchell seemed to form a tight-knit group. Janet was more comfortable with Joanna Ward and Christy Smith. Janet had a hard time dealing with the harsh Amazonian elements during the first few days of the game, but was saved when Jaburu won the first Immunity Challenge because of the men's inability to cross a balance beam.

At camp, someone found a granola bar wrapper in the bottom of a barrel of supplies. The girls did not feel comfortable sneaking food into the game, and wanted to know who did it. No one confessed, but Jeanne Hebert told the other girls that it was Janet's wrapper. Jaburu lost the next Immunity Challenge, and Janet told the women that it was not her granola bar. She did not care if she was voted out for being weak, or for some other reason, but she also did not want to be voted off for the granola bar incident. Despite her pleas, Janet was still voted off 5-1-1-1. She cast her vote for Jeanne for starting the rumor against her.
